Re: Parsing my way to 75

Nobody really invites bst to a party for a few reasons. 1. Brady guide laughed at us as party members. 2. nobody understood that bsts charmed pet didnt hurt them as long as the pets lvl was lower then the highest party members level. 3 they didnt realize that then an only then bsts exp was only effected. An #4. way to many DD,

After your fungar familar. The only choice you pretty much have is C.C. Everything else is either way to expansive to make. or Just doesnt last long at all. The reason why Bst use C.C is its cost effective + duration.

What you will notice is when a bst hits 75 an adds bst affinity merits. They will sometimes switch back to the fungar familars. because the affinity puts them around the same lvl that C.C would have been.

As for me i played Bst to get away from the morons.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

Yeah. people will start to kill you WSwise soon, but overall DoT, BST is still king. I have only had the chance to merit on BST once or twice(damn 2 edged sword that BRD is....100 merits, but had to BRD for 98 of them). But for overall damage, between me and the fung/CC I was easily doing as much damage if not more than the WAR and NINs I was with. And these were adaberk WAR, 100+ merit NINs, and BB MNKs.

Once you get BST geared, you will be insane. Myself in PT I run a full 19% haste setup, that leaves my attack around 385 on /NIN. I use offhand Temperance, mainhand Maneater and have Brutal/Beastly earrings on. When I toss on WS gear, it pops up to +55 STR or so and I use the soil gorget since am doing TP burn most of time. My average Rampages are like 700ish, with a high of 1205, which is pretty damn good for not having all the WAR traits and such.

I've never met a DD yet that I felt was killing me in merit PTs, and once you gear your BST properly and toss some merits into axe/crits, you'll blow em away.

Anyways, that's some very impressive damage, good job ^^
its not that bsts dont try to explore their potential per se, its that you'd be surprised how many times you'd be passed up for other jobs.

the party mentality isnt there yet, and nor do i think it ever will be unless there is a change that gives bst a glaring point of interest. DOT does not interest xp parties. fast tp gain and spike dmg is the main thing that gets you into the pt as a melee.

yes, you can create your own and yes theres some people out there willing to try but honestly, 4/5 times you dont get the chance.

taru edit: hardly most bsts are as well equipped as you runningdemon ^^

Haste build is: Axe of choice (Temp or Maneater)
Turban, PCC, Brutal/Beastly Earrings, Hauberk, Dusk Hands, Rajas/Jaeger Rings, Forager's Mantle, Swift Belt, Byakko Haidate, Dusk feet

It totals out at 19% haste and since I have capped axe merits and all, never felt like i was being outdone with it yet, even if using meat.

This brings up a question for me. I still haven't gotten my divine might earring yet despite being 75rdm for over a year. Which should I choose? I was thinking Supp would help both my bst and rdm, rdm more obviously. But only when soloing/meleeing which I don't do in partys... But Abyssal would help my rdm mage part. Finally, Beastly would help my bst more than Supp I think. So Supp is middle ground, abyssal is rdm, and beastly is bst... Any suggestions or do I kinda have this right?

I know I'm probably going to get burned for asking these but I need to know. I started lvling my bst two days ago I'm now a lvl 14 and partied for the first time as bst the other day.

Anyways, I was curious as to what Parsing meant, how do I macro Reward, and what is an EVM pet?

I started out lvling War then switched to Whm. But the job I have wanted to lvl since I got the game is Bst. Once I got my Whm to 50 I switched over to Bst and I'm not going to switch till I reach 75.

I havent been here for very long, but I don't think asking questions will get you flamed here.

EVM? (maybe EM) means Even Match. Too weak, Easy Prey, Decent Challenge, Even Match, Tough, Very Tough, Incredibly Tough.

                      I believe reward is, /ja "Reward" <me>

I personally have this as my reward macro

                      Title: Reward
1st line: /equip ammo "Pet food zeta"
                      2nd line: /wait 1
                      3rd line: /ja "Reward" <me>
                      4th line: /wait 1
5th line: /equip ammo "Tiphia sting"

Parsing in this game means to record all the statistics from a certain period of time, whether it be a whole party session or just one fight.

It will give you the damage every member does so you can compare. Most of the time it's used to better yourself, for bst you could lets say, test to see which jugpet is doing better against a certain mob.

Pop one jugpet, parse its damage, then pop the other type, and see which does more damage, make sure both had the same amount of time to fight, or more simply you can look at the average damage per fight.

It requires you to be on PC obviously, and violate the TOS sadly, you're not aloud to run 3rd party programs. No matter what they are, if they interact with FFXI, and are not released by them, it's against the terms of service.

Just so you know, if you want to party as bst, I would get both nin and war leveled to 37, or at least keep them at half your bst. Depending on the situation, or preference, both jobs are really the only two exceptional subs for damage dealing.

Apart from the above quote everything is all and good, parsing is as against the ToS as opening your log files with notepad on your computer.

Since that is basically all a parser does, you can complie the data yourself manually as well since the log files are stored locally on your computer (they aren't encrypted or anything, just formatted a little wierd).

All the parsers really does is complie the text into easy readable lists of data.
Keep in mind, sig might be outdated I just update it a few times per week.
Signature with the usual levels and obtained stuff etc. . .

On my last character, I got BST to 15 and never touched it again. Also, I use to frown upon BST's in PT thinking it would never be a worthwhile class to play.

                          Looks like I'll need a doubletake. w

Never thought of it that way. I guess you could technically run the parser or do it manually after closing FFXI. But to do it while it's running requries you to be running windower, which is against the ToS.

Thanks for the macro Aether it worked great. I also tried out my 2 hour the other day in a pt and it was awesome. I played with a pt of noobs (me and one other member had subjob) and I played puller. The only reason I had my pet while in the pt was becuase we were fighting a lizzie in the dunes and one popped right where we were fighting and linked. We were fighting an IT and the pop was also an IT. So I did the only thing I could think of, I charmed it and had it fight the other lizzie. My pet uncharmed and started to attack me so I charmed him again and 2hr him. It was interesting when all the noobs started to bombard me with question about bst. And then everyone that happened to run by would /t me that my pet took exp away from pt.
