Copycat KSNM mystery

So, decided to come to the masses with the greatest mystery I have found in this game.

Beastmasters tend to 6BST the KS30 Copycat a lot, well at least on Seraph they do. I myself am a Hume who /WHMs for the fight. My gear has ranged from Thick/Bison/Haub/Osode/AF2/AF in the 2 or so years that I have been doing this KSNM. I now have 64 merits, but started with none when first did the KSNM.

The Eye mob in the battle charms each PT member in turn, and therein lies the mystery. For every single time I have done this KSNM, the Eye will draw in and charm my other PT members without problem. Occassionally, the NM will 'miss' a charm, he will just draw in, and not charm, but to the other PT members this is a 1/100 if not more occurence. Now.....my 'resist' charm rate is closer to 50%, not the expected 1% and for the life of me, me and the others cannot figure out how.

The factors I am trying to look at are:

1. Restist charm gear: I have none, and never have had any.

2. Level affects you getting charmed: Have done with all 75/74s every time.

3. Staves: I have resisted with no weapon, with axe out, with light staff, and with dark staff.

4. Armor: Have resisted with Gaudy/Hauberk/Osode/Bison.

5. Merits/stats/race: Same or negligable difference as compared to rest of PTs.


I am completely clueless why I seem to not get charmed, has anyone else ever experienced this or do you have any ideas?

I’ve done that KSNM eight times with the following jobs (all 75): NIN X 2, DRK, WHM, BLM, BRD (me). Everyone in the party would get charmed 2-3 times a fight. In all those fights, I was the only to resist charm, and I resisted twice.

Not anywhere close to a 50% resist rate, but more like 10-12%. The only factor I can think of is a buttload of CHR (I typically have 70 + 32-35). But I’d assume 6BST would have pretty similar CHR give or take 5-10.

Could try taking a BRD and jacking your CHR through the roof (gear + BRD songs can yield absurdly useless CHR XD.)

Can't be the CHR, since were all in melee gear with minor differences most of the time. And can't really take BRD cause we'd get our clock cleaned without the 6th pet/melee, lol.

I honestly think the Eye is just scurred of me, either that or I'm too ugly to charm.

Well, Charm is a Light element ability (as evidenced by the increased potency you get when using Light/Apollo Staff), so I would expect anything that increased Light element resistance to help you.

I'm assuming you aren't wearing anything obvious with Resist Charm:

Are you wearing Kirin's Osode (+50 light resistance)? That would skew the results a lot I'd think.

Yeah, but half the time I had Gaudy on, and I resisted like this even before I had Osode, back when I did in Hauberk.

Only thing I can think is Dark staff, but the others had it on resting and got charmed a lot too.

Ive actually equipped resist charm for these ksnm. an to be honest i still get charmed all the time. I dunno maybe cause im always fighting im within charm radius.

So have you ben far away from the mob when it was your turn. This could be some form of a glitch for u.

Other then that i have no clue. Its charmed me with all kinds of gear, An i cant remember a bst friend not being charmed. For awhile i thought it was nect to impossible. Guess its not,

I've been through the thick and the thin in KSNM with you Cole, the monster doesn't charm you because... He doesn't like you as a friend and he'd rather torch you with -ga III's than use you as a team member!... Or maybe you just smell as bad as i do, we may never know. Especially because I've discovered that Infernal Swarm (Atropos orb @ Fei'yin) is far easier and more lucrative at the moment than copycat.

Basically positive bro, 2 of the 5 belts are 1.5 mil + and a 3rd belt is 500k. One belt drops virtually every run, except for when it doesnt, you get a light spirit pact instead. The KSNM also drops Damascene Cloth and Damascus Ingot. Along with a few other little goodies.

I have actually gotten the ultra-valuable Steppe Belt and Damascene Cloth in the same run.

The greatest part about it is you can bring just about any bst above lv 72 to this KSNM and win, absolutely every time. This KSNM takes... absolutely NO skill to win, all you have to do is send a CC in to grab the attention of all the enemies and let the big bee fire off a paralaga before you go in and charm the little bees. The little bees are very easy charms with a staff, and with AF or relic they stay charmed basically the entire fight. From that point all you have to do is sic your bees at the large bee and wait for it to benediction while you build TP as it spams pollen and cure V. When all bsts have at least 200% TP wait for it to get heavily damaged (About 50 to 40% HP) and then have one leader call out a rampage attack, where every bst uses rampage at once and kills it before it can pollen again. From that point forward you just release the highest HP bee first and kill them off 1 at a time till you pop the treasure!

Intense and highly skilled bsts are no longer needed to do copycats, where every time you bring a new kid you fail a run or two before they get the hang of it. Every beast should allready have tons of experience with this KSNM, as it is very close to the same strategy as BC40 Steamed Sprouts.
