      Re: BST...repeat?

I oml;y play an hour or 2 a day so I've solo'd all of my 2 years in this game.
the secret to solo is, always have a zone nesrby, when things start to go bad, swallow your pride and run, don't wait before it's too late. Some other things I follow to keep from dying. Always unlock keyboard and scan 360 degrees during battle to watch for aggro. Always check tghe target before a fight to be sure you know what you're dealing with. You can get just about as much experience mowing down a mess of EP, without the down time of healing after the tough almost killed you, I personally stick with decent challenge or less and only go after
even match if the T has no magic or sleep spells. It took me a year to solo WAR to 36 and 3 months to solo BEAST to 50. Died 50 times as a war and 3 times as a beast and had more fun and went more places. Stick with beast, it's the most
      rewarding for me.

Nope, I couldn't do damage to him ;;.

My brother wanted Death Ray for his BLU, so we went in and started killing the Hecteyes. Well, it had been a while since I had been in the pass; and when I came to the area where the Taisai were I didn't realize this was the NM. So, I sent the Stirge I charmed to attack it.

Needless to say, Taisaijin killed the bat in two hits, and because my brother (30-something BLU) was attacking it, Taisaijin turned to him and dropped him in one hit XD.

At this point I started kiting him, calling Funguar jugs and charming mobs all along the way. I circled that big loop like 5-6 times, and when I stopped to charm the scorp. repop and send it after Taisaijin, he popped me with an Aeroga III and I ate it ;;.

After I died, a 75DRG/mage (RDM or WHM) came by and soloed the NM. The DRG, however, almost died even with his wyrvern's healing breath XD. He told me he didn't get the drop, but that he got the title and a little exp.

I don't know about soloing big nasty mobs with high price drops. When you do a pet swap, your mob will go yellow (i.e. up for grabs) for at least a second or two. Many BSTs have had their NMs "stolen" by less-than-ethical players when they were attempting a pet swap with the NM down to a sliver of their life. You could avoid this problem by duoing, and staggering pet swaps with your partner. But then, that's duoing, and not soloing.

As far as big money side of BST, consider the following:
                  - the ease with which you can farm Beastman / Kindred seals
                  - the ease with which you can cash those seals in by soloing / duoing / jug burning / etc various BCNMs

                      Re: BST...repeat?

As for the money side of things, you get to keep all the drops regardless of what you fight when soloing. Those mobs you charm are so thrilled about not being killed by adventurers that they willingly pass on all the loot. Sure, you'll get the odd mob that won't want to party with you because of some small issue like the level of your weapon or a comment you made to their brother but you can just make yourself more charming towards them and apologize.

As for doing some of the crazy things you hear other BSTs doing, all it takes to do them yourself is preperation and a healthy dose of insanity. If you fail the first time, don't get discouraged. Just look at what you did wrong and adjust your strategy accordingly.

As said elsewhere else, Charm is based on, with the biggest factor being: luck, TNL, and reraise. Gear don't matter .
