    Re: pty rant/ethical question

Since I've started leveling BST, I've tried to avoid the most common 6-man-pt leveling spots. I hated seeing BSTs eat up tons of mobs in zones like Valkurm and Qufim when I was leveling other jobs, so I try not to do the same to others.
The luxury of being a BST is that you can pretty much go anywhere. In a 6-man PT it's often a huge ordeal to travel and also to replace PT members, which is why people flock to areas like CN, VD, GC, etc.
It's easier to convice just one yourself (especially when it's yourself) to travel than it is to convice 6 people. So I agree with that point. However, it's not true that BST can "pretty much go anywhere". If anything, BSTs have far stricter requirements for what makes up an acceptable exp camp than a 6-man-pt does. Both groups require target mobs within a certain level range. However, BSTs additionally require potential pets within a small level range.

(Where as with PTs you can pretty much tell if you know the spots). I always search first when Im leader even if its just because I personaly dont want crap exp. If theres a bst exping in a 1 PT area then Im not going to leave because funnily enough every other Bst has managed that lv somewhere else where as more ppl are in PTs and other spots can be heavily over camped as well. My friend is a bst atm and has managed to get to almost 60 very quickly without ever having to exp in a PT spot or compete with other bsts to exp. I know its not fair, I know you have every right to exp where PTs do but I mean its just a waste of your time trying to compete with a PT if one shows up anyway so why bother.
Most BST use the search comment function. A simple click on their name by the PT leader will reveal a lot about location the bst is camped, as well as what they are fighting and using for pets. Of course not all BST do this, but a lot do.

        Re: pty rant/ethical question

Im with Gman i think more then 3/4 of my exp locations were in zones with little to no parties at all. an if parties were there. most times then not we were fighting different mobs. example the tree, i would fight mandies an spiders, parties would fight the crawlers an crabs,

Honestly the time frame when the first searched a zone, an when you logged on to exp. could have actually showed the camp area as emptied. But yeah its sad you got the Bst treatment. i hear that still at 75 when i farm or exp. last night nobody in the tree, next thing i know people are pissed im mauling the steelshells to lvl dagger. go figure.

I like what u did though. Go hard, or Go home.

Yeah i always go into that mode when the idiots come on to play. plenty of times ive had players try to camp ontop of me during solo play, an in pts. i just dont take it. i play my job 10 times harder then i was before. Nothing is funnier to me then watching a pt watch us maul thru the exp.

Wow, it must be nice to be on your server. I don't think I've *ever* seen a BST do that. About two-thirds are /anon so you can't even tell they're BSTs of a level that would make it likely that they would want to fight the same mobs as you. The rest have no comment, or a comment that doesn't give this information (or any information useful to a party trying to avoid this kind of conflict).

That being said, a lot of party leaders just don't think to check for camp site conflict with BSTs; heck, probably more than half don't even check for conflict with other PTs. I do, but I don't always feel like forming my own PT (or there may not be an appropriate set of jobs, a problem BST don't have). So it's kind of a self-perpetuating cycle: providing the info doesn't do the BST any good if nobody is going to look at it, so they don't bother, so party leaders don't get into the habit of looking for info that isn't there anyway.

                  Re: pty rant/ethical question

Actually it was very common before the mpk update to see bst posting where they were an what they were fighting. After the update posting did not matter anymore bacause players had ne need to fear bst ina zone.

Parties became ass's an i for one felt they purposely scanned camp comments to locate me. because it seemed to happen alot more when i posted where i was. thus i stopped using comments. an it didnt happen as much, every once in awhile a jerk would show up, but not as bad as when i posted bst at J-5 spider vs spider. then id have 2 pts ontop of me.

@ little ninja: Seems to me you're just jaded, or you have mpk'd a few too many people!

I still use the quotes in my search comment and have very few problems. I don't go /anon either ... I'm proud of what Ive done and I'm not ashamed to show it off.

On the other hand, I don't find too many parties vying for the camps I use now - most parties would die in those places anyway. Perhaps its a case of breaking the apron strings and heading away from zones for a while - if there's no zone nearby most parties start screaming for a safer camp ^^

Honestly ive mpked more people now then i did before the patch. An players having no regards doesnt stretch to 6 man pts as i have had bsts also seek me out VIA my search comment.

But since i turned 75, i really dont have no need to have comments anymore. since i pretty much roam around the exp part of the zone, i do it in bib bay, boyada, sky.

But ya i can honestly say my experience with the search comment went out with the mpk nerf, an AoE nerf.

                        Re: pty rant/ethical question

I have been wanting to lvl Bst since I got ffxi. I unlocked it but I figured if I lvled my whm to 75 I would be better off to start lvling bst. My whm if 50 now and I am going to start lvling bst anyways. If I have a bst /t me for a tele I always give it to them for free just so I don't have to worry about camping on top of them because they are not able to quickly get somewhere they can camp. I also try to camp away from bst so we don't run into this problem. I have been in a few pts that the leader brought us to a camp that a bst was using and when I realized it I would talk to bst and if he was there first and wanting to stay would tell leader we needed to move pt. If they weren't wanting to I would leave pt and join bst to cure them in a slightly higher area or run pt out. I agree completely with what OP did and think everyone should stop being selfish and cooperate with each other.
