    Hello resident Beastmasters.

I dusted off my bst equip last night for the first time in a very long time and decided to do a bit of soloing. I started the night at the top end of level 24 so opted for worms in Qufim with Jug pets and DD gear. The xp rolled in with constant chain 3s (some 4s) and 200+ per kill (with my xp band ~140-180 without). I dinged 25 extremely quickly and before I knew it I'd gained another 5k xp and hit 26.

The worm camp started to get crowded then with people* waiting for parties, being PL'd on worms (/sigh ignoring me) and other general players. I decided to call it a night so ran back to Jeuno and logged.

Today: I took full charm gear with me and decided to go up against some crabs due to 2 parties camping worms at the entrance and 2 more at the lake. I ran over to the normally deserted area of Qufim near the Kraken. Xp wasn't as fast as the previous day but it still flowed in nicely. I had probably been camping there for about an hour and a half when another bst turned up. He didn't say anything to me, simply checked my gear and began to charm/fight 2 mobs at a time.

Slightly miffed, I sent him a polite /tell and didn't get a response so I sent another in auto-translate and was ignored again I decided to try and carry on eventhough he was higher level and was able to solo my crabs whilst sending his pet after a different target.

After another half an hour or so yet another bst turned up and began to do the same as the first. I gave up after another 20mins of their shameful actions and went to Rol Fields. Bee's make horrible pets.......

So anyway, that was my night. I really like playing bst and I know several career bsts who would frown on shameful actions of those two but it would seem that every time I get my bst out it all goes wrong (don't get me started on the Bub Pen MPKing incident the last time I levelled it).

*who bitched at me when they tossed a Cure II/III my way and prompty got whacked with a Stonega before I remembered /blockaid

The irony is, I wanted to get away from players and just do some stuff on my own for a bit. Hence pulling the old bst out.

try exploring other areas, thats the best thing about bst. you'll find a bst roaming w/o sneak/invis while jobs many lvls about you carefuly navigate the zone hidden with sneak/invis.

like another thread recently, it isnt just normal xp pts that ruin xp for a bst. its other bst as well. there is no consequence for any actions in the game, due to the fact that the tos interpretation is so full of holes that even gms dont know how to use it to promote good manners between players.

so the best you can do is, find another camp/zone or stick it out by pulling/fighting the same things they do but faster. if you are out leveled by ppl farming or doing quests, the only thing you can really do is hope you can snag as many mobs as possible to keep your xp going.

it sucks, but thats just how things go if situations cannot be resolved gracefully.

also, at that level many times trying to have the mob kill your pet before you finish the mob off can be a pain. a lot of times during those levels i would charm a T-VT leech, 2 hr it, and just go ape shit on every ep-dc mob there is. bring lots of pet food and just melee from the getgo. low xp on each kill but the sheer volume of mobs killed makes up for it.

You seem to lvl BST for the same reasons I do : get away from the usual party crap. So I think you should try to avoid them more and explore other areas.

I expreienced that once more today with my duo partner : the camp we were planning to go to was crowed with "lvl 75 calling for help on DC to be rescued by a 67BST" so we moved and explored a bit farther. We found a really nice camp to duo in.

Just relax, take your time and go explore a bit. That chain 3 will taste even better if you are in an "unusual" camp you found on your own.

Re: The good, the bad and the bloody ignorant

It's unfortunate, but alot of the bsts currently lvling are just doing so to finish out their job list. These people really have no concept of the fact that this is a game, people are here to have fun, and rudeness by anyone takes away from it. The basic ettiquette is simple, if the spot is already taken, go elsewhere or duo.

1st and foremost, lvling via XP chain may seem nice on paper, but mathematically it just doesn't work out for a soloer. Killing 5 EMs and resting usually means that you can just cycle the same 5 mobs all session if you get in a rhythm with no downtime waiting for a respawn. The XP chain usually requires you to rest for MP alot more often and you use alot of pets up on VTs, so you have a fair ammount of downtime waiting for pet respawn.

Getting back to the subject, if you are there 1st and someone ignores your mobs my suggestion is to XP off their pets, ie kill what they are using as charms and if they wanna solo their prey without a pet that's their problem. Always repay rudeness with rudeness. People say you don't want a rep as an a-hole, but if you leave you get a rep as a pushover-see how far that rep will take you...
so i'm making a payment over the phone of $100 to the cable company and the lady says "not enough" and I'm like "not enough my left nut that's all I got" and she starts in with "then you ain't got no internet" and the next thing you know there I am minus my left nut down at the pawn shop pawning my mom's gold teeth and nobody's really concerned that she's still attached to them which is cool and What? no I don't think this game appeals to the obsessive overly-caffienated no not at all...

Thank you for the responses. I will give my bst another go again tonight, just looking for a good spot now. I really like xping off worms they are stupidly easy to kill with the sheep jug pet and leave you with pretty much no downtime. I might go and try the Abyss worms in the Maze for a while and see how I do on those. If they're not as good, I'll switch to bats, crawlers and goblins near the Buburimu zone.

The thing that annoyed me most about last night was I used the "ghetto leave" method with EM pets against T mobs. The bst who turned up was several levels higher than me so could easily of used leeches and pugs against giants, leeches and wights, instead he chose to charm crabs and fight crabs. This meant that every fight he used 3 crabs leaving me with very few options.

Good luck. One thing to keep in mind is that 24 is a pretty low level for any job, and they might not know much/anything about BST etiquette. They may just look at BST camps the way an average person looks at normal 6-man party camps. He probably saw the camp, saw you and thought "oh cool, only one party worth of competition." We know jumping into a camp like this isn't cool, but he may not have.

I dont get your point ... Killing EM should bring you chains and killing VTs dont really bring down time. If mob respawn is a problem then maybe you should just get another camp. But anyway if you like your way of playing BST that's fine : I like mine and we are both happy.

Back to OP : "ghetto leave", is, I think, really time consuming as you need to find a good pet and wait for him to die. Dont' be afraid of having to swap pets during fights too ... You will need to practise it so the sooner, the better. A trick I often used when having a pet at like 5% HPs left was to send it on my next pet and charm it when it would have killed my current pet. So you start next fight with a pet in "not too bad shape".

Balls! I just wrote a long post and then accidentally hit my bookmark when clicking onto another tab.

Forgive me for being blunt here but what the other bst did (and the guy that came along later aswell) was a deliberate attempt to stop my xp and get rid of me. He knew I couldn't compete with him for the area as I was at least 5 levels lower than him (he was /anon with a level 31 weapon).

Ignorance is becomming prevalent these days. I've had multiple parties move into occupied camp spots in the 50s and 60s and try to force me/my party out. I've had players demanding I join their party eventhough I am /anon just because they see me cast refresh or I'm wearing a piece of AF.

Thank you for your post Bov and I am by no means trying to get at you. I'm just seem to think the general playerbase is in a downward spiral at the moment. Maybe its because so many people have 75 jobs and they see lower levels as a chore. I don't know, I've become more introverted recently and only interact with a few friends in-game. Maybe I should take a break and work on my forkmatic 9000 (see the pet peeves thread).

Re: The good, the bad and the bloody ignorant

I hope I'm remembering correctly but on my former taru, I believe I used Jugner Forest as my BST stomping grounds at that level. I was a roaming BST that fought with her pets and hated sticking to one camp. Once I got around 27, I headed over to Spore Hollow and only had to deal with the occasional farmer. The farmers were rarely a problem since I could bribe them away with mushroom drops.

The out of the way camps are always the best since exp parties rarely go there due to lack of bravery. As for other BSTs, I've always found there's more good ones out there then bad ones. The best thing to do is make note of who the bad ones are and be quick to refuse aid to them when they need it.

Just keep at it. We need more snuggly looking Beastmistresses to overpower the Beastmasters domination of the job. o.~

I'm beginning to think the world hates my beastmistress ( Asir).

Quite happily killing Raptors and Goblins in Merph mountains when I ran into another ignorant little sod who was determined to stop my xp session.......

Had me trapped in the SE corner for about half an hour. He just wouldn't move to let me past. Planned an escape route by charming a T and sending it at him whilst I ran as fast as I could to the Castle O zone. I got to the other side of the mountains when I suddenly got pulled back. Bloody draw-in

To my credit I dodged 2 hits, took one to the chest and was still standing. Must of pissed him off eh?
