After a bcnm 20 run (While i was on the Olympic Standing there team) I watched 2 BST's duo the bats. I got excited and I wanted to play the class. After finding out a little about the class my bro and I decided to try out BST, but I still am not sure on my sub job. I am a Galka and My bro is a hume, and he is gonna choose /whm for his sub. Should I also be a /whm or could i be more effective as a /war in a duo bst team? or something else?

Re: Duo Help
It's all about self management. With a sub which you can't cure yourself with, you'll find downtime very high, unless your bro cures you. Even then, he'll have to rest more often too if you take damage.
If you sub WHM you both can look after yourselves, rather than having someone else split their MP to cure you.
As for the BCNM, nothing to be excited about. 2 BSTs can do it, I done it with another BST, both of us subbed BLU. Plagued with bad drop rates, you're likely to do it 3 times and then shrug and not do it. You spend more in preparation then you will get in drops. Unless you're lucky, of course.[LadyKiKi]
Soloed to 75
[DRG | BST | PLD | NIN | RDM | THF | DRK | WHM | SAM]
all done via BST sub where applicable (no DRG/BST!)

Re: Duo Help
In a duo, I would sub WHM for the following reasons:
1.) You can heal yourself. Your duo partner has enough to worry about keeping himself alive.
2.) You can heal your own status effects. Your partner won't have to burn his mp casting Poisona, Paralyna, etc. on two people.
3.) You can sneak/invis yourself at level 40+/50+.
4.) With the right gear [namely RSE], a Galka BST/WHM can have more mp that a Taru BST/WHM.
With a WAR sub, you might pull way too much hate, aside from the lack healing/status healing issues. Berserk, Provoke, etc. have limited use.
Another option is to use /NIN, which offers Dual Wield and Utsu. I've tried /NIN, and it is pretty nice; however, I still prefer /WHM.
I view BST a job where you need to do everything. You're the puller, the debuffer (/WHM) at the begining, the DD in the middle of the fight, the tank (hopefully not for too long ) at the end, and the healer, if needed after the fight.BST66
Have you hugged your Taru today =)

Re: Duo Help
I'm searching the forums for a guide on if there are any changes when you Duo. I have a friend who's BST19, I hit BST20 last night. When we Duo do we still go with DC-EM mobs Vs. EM-T mobs? Or do we do things differently because there are two of us? I'll keep looking, but I figured I'd ask here since this is about douing.Odude

Re: Duo Help
To answer McHaggis, I'd still go as /WHM even if I'm a Galka.

But later at high levels DC-EM mobs Vs. VT mobs works well with BST duo.

Re: Duo Help
I have to agree with what TaruBST, LadyKiki and Jugil have already stated but I'll add a little bit onto it.
Spicy McHaggis~ When you and your brother team up to duo, it would be a wise idea to go after DC and EM targets at first to determine a comfortable playstyle that works for the two of you. Some BSTs like to fight with their pets, others like to wait until their pets are dead. Working on the easier prey helps you to work out the kinks until you're both playing in synch with no problem so you can move onto the harder stuff.
TDH~ Since you're a young BST, you're probably very familiar with the zones you have been leveling in but that will change as you get higher in level. My advice to you once you start moving on to rarely used zones is to do a thorough exploration of them. Watch the mobs to see their patterns around what you would consider a prime camping spot, check to see how often people run through there to farm/exp party/whatever, and anything else you'd want to know about the zone. I found this used to help a lot whenever I decided to move on to some place new.
