  • BST at endgame?

Well, I have always had problems with jobs but bst has always seemed interesting. But the thing thats keeping me away from BST is I do not know what they do at endgame! Soloing may be the thing for me since with school starting soon the time I get to level during the weekdays will be maybe 2-6 hours a day which will cause me to many times no even get to level at all. Also bst just seems fun. So I am wondering if I make it to end game as a bst will it have paid off? Will I be doing Hnm and dynamis and such or will I be left out? Also If I Put on the best DD gear would I be a decent DD i think I asked this question before some where on the fourms. I just need help picking a job lol and right now its down to War,Mnk, or Bst. I like DD in a party but I get bored at times and would like somthing else. I am used to soloing from Ragnarok online so it would not be that hard of a transition to bst and since when soloing you take on every job of a party its fun. I guess I went rambling and got off track from what i origionaly was going to say. Lol sorry ^^"

Most people don't seem to grasp that BST + Pet = out DD most DD. Without a pet, you are second rate DD. Good look convincing people to invite you to a party though.

End game BSTs do stuff with end game BSTs, I assume. As for Dynamis, Sky, etc., I have never, ever, seen a BST outside BST onry groups. How those works, how well, and how often, other BST will have to answer.

        Re: BST at endgame?

BSTs have only limited roles at end-game due to the lack of charmable enemies in most high level zones/battlegrounds, and the unfortunate fact that jug pets (even Courier Carrie) fare very poorly against HNMs.

BST basically only sees use in zones where there is reasonably controlled aggro (i.e. Tiamat/Attohwa Chasm, Aspidochelone/Valley of Sorrows, etc.). Not much of a role, and you'll basically never actually hit an HNM as BST.

Well thanks Icemage, Bst looks fun and all but if that is how it is endgame there not much for me to look foward to if I level it. Now still chosing a job to level after three months lol...

If your profile is correct and you're still level 24 after 3 months of playing, I wouldn't be too terribly concerned about endgame anyway. You're not going to hit level 75 in anything less than another year at that rate, and a lot can change in a year.

                  Re: BST at endgame?

BST may not be the best at HNM, but there are plenty of clost-to-end-game things they rock out, such as Assault and Optical Hat runs. These are things that people do frequently, and are generally (At least in my experience) more open-minded about doing with BST.

A good example is the 60cap assault I did last night with a close friend and my girlfriend. Alone, my friend (bst) was outdamaged by my girlfriend (mnk) by nearly 10k damage. Add in fungar pet, however, and bst + pet outdamages mnk by by nearly 10k. Its pretty impressive you ask me. Especially in timed events where every hit and every second can potentially be the winning blow and moment.

Can't bst solo a lot of good NMs? I've heard of Alky and Citpati being bst only, both of which would be a nice payoff.

                        Re: BST at endgame?

3 bst can destroy Xolotl (ok, with help with kiting). Alky are bst solo only, otherwise you have to duo. Hakutaku can be easily done with 3/4 bst, a few more for safety. When we did Alastor Antlion on a spectacularly bad run (we had 5 executioners up at once) our bst kited 3 of them at once. On my server, before the change to leave, a beastmaster and summoner alliance would regularly beat Tiamat. Hell, we have our ls leader (a bst main) sac pull in Dynamis - Carrie is really good for that...

All you need is a ls that understands how to use bst.

Indeed - yeah you won't get into the main alliance for a fair bit of the stuff, but a canny bst will always find plenty to do to help out their ls. It is then up to the ls to acknowledge that.

If you get an alliance of BSTs together, they can take down many a thing. For example, a whole BST+SMN alliance took down Tiamat on Asura some moons ago.

                              Thanks Yyg!
