I've had this question for a while and now I feel I should post it.

Now I'm still a very new Beastmaster. Level 15 to be exact. But It seems like ever since level 10.. .When I really started to Charm pets for xp, it seems that Id always be moving around and going halfway across the zone looking for mobs and not really sticking to one area

And now I see alot of BSTs talking about just staying in a certain camp or area. When do I start actually sticking to one camp instead of looking around the entire zone for mobs to kill, does this happen in later levels?

    Thanks

    Re: Camps

Yes, at later levels, you'll definitely have a camp...although the word "camp" usually means something different to a BST than it does to a non-BST. The "camp" is basically the area where pets and prey both pop. Sometimes "camp" is nearly the entire zone, like you're describing. Sometimes "camp" just a couple rooms in some dungeon and you'll always be fighting in more or less the same spot, much like a stationary 6-man party.

Many of the early zones I used for xp had large "camps." In buburimu at lvl 22-25 I was wandering all over. In eastern altepa at 32-34 my "camp" was nearly half the zone. But then at lvl 66-68 in upper delkfutts and 51-52 in Crawlers Nest, I pretty much pulled every mob to the same spot and "camp" was really easy to define.

You'll see. As you level up each xp location will be different and your definition of "camp" will get a little warped.

      Re: Camps

      Bov explained it so well.

BST camp usually is about 4 boxes in size when looking at the map.
I think the first time I camped in one small area (1 box) is in Yhoator making 2 crawlers in the deadend tunnel as pets to fight the gobs outside of the tunnel. There, the camp was a really small area (the tunnel).

        Re: Camps

To reaffirm what was already said, "camp" is a general definition and can vary in size by quite a bit. When my camp is very large and I wander for pets and mobs, I try to refer to it as a "roaming camp" so people reading the posts know that it's not a specific area, and don't get too confused by my description. As you spend more time as BST your notion of a camp will likely change. For those people coming over from other jobs, it can be quite a shock to have a "camp" that takes up half a zone :-)

The thing to remember is that, in a normal party, wandering around a zone full of prey is quite dangerous and normally ends in a bad way for everyone so it's safer to stay put and pull prey to a "camp" site. As a BST, things normally end in a bad way so wandering around just makes it more fun ;-) In reality, BSTs can handle adds and other problems much more easily than any party, and so we are able to take advantage of that by expanding our camps by a huge degree ^.^
