    I noticed in there merit post that all said to merit up axe. I didn't see anyone say anything about scythe...

    Is scythe only skilled for sc options in pt?

    Just want to know if I should bother leveling it???

    Its already @ 103 from leveling drk for sub to rdm, max for bst scythe @ my level is 188. If needed I can always grab a skill up pt.

    Scythe is usefull for endgame activities, but you'll need to get spiral hell as it's our only decent sycthe WS at that level.

      Even if you put 8 merits into scythe, it would only reach 256 total, which would make it a B weapon or so. Meanwhile you can get axe to 285, which opens up the possibility of eating meat instead of sushi.

        Ahh ty that clears up alot. I thought bst axe and sycthe were same skill level all the way to 75 since I have seen so many bst with scythe and have seen some good bst effects on some of them. Not having scythe capped I couldn't tell that it was lower. Now I know not to bother with it for the most part till I am board and see a shout for a skill up pt...

        Axe to 285...Hmmm, that just sounds nice.

            Dear god what lvl would you have to get to theoretically to hit that naturally?

              Well...highest you can get without mods is 269.

                You get 1 to 5 skill in a weapon per level depending on your classes rating but it veries by level. Lets say for BST using a axe, gets a avg of 3 per level.

                297-269=28
                28/3=9.333333333

                So to get it natural you would need to need to be level 84.

                    Don't forget 28 more skill in a weapon gives you 28 more att and ACC. Weapon skill merits are bar none the best thing a melee can merit.

                      attack and accuracy decreases slightly after 200ish like .9 attack/point and 1 accuracy/ point (or the other way around, forgot.)

                        I haven't personally tested it, but I believe it's supposed to be 1 Attack/0.9 Accuracy for each point after 200.

                          Yeah it is 1/1 (Atk/Acc) up to skill 200, all skill from 201 and upwards give 1/0.9~. (havn't checked the acc myself since it would take a few hours of checking. I did check the Atk on my WAR, PLD and BST to make sure on the Atk though just a minute ago)
                          Keep in mind, sig might be outdated I just update it a few times per week.
                          Signature with the usual levels and obtained stuff etc. . .

                            piroko, Liquidedust, Armando thanks I thought it stayed at 1 and 1 all the way till you cap at no matter what amount you had. Atleast that is what I always heard and sense acc is hard to check and att worked out correctly, I never took the time to check.

                            Still by going from 269 to 297 that is still 25.2 more acc. and I belive my math above still come out that same, in RunningDemons case a level 82 beast and will max Axe Skill level 84. Monks can max out at 299(with a HtH neck item) which sucks because there is most likely a new weapon skill when you hit 300 >.<

                            I'm willing to bet that Square will raise the amount of times you can merit your weapon to allow classes that have a A rank in a weapon to brake 300 and get new weapon skills instead of giving out weapon skills for meriting points. They need to allow 8 more levels of merit in weapons to do it for A- weapons. This would also allow melees to fight Gods without missing so much. For monks the new cap would 315 in HTH skill, which would be the same as a level 88 Monk. And if you add in Acc gear your with in striking range of most gods.

                              Even, if I aggree ont the fact that merits should not be limited, I don't think there is a new WS on skill 300. If you want the last WS you have to upgrade a relic weapon.

                              About gods and melees, I sadly did not fought a god for a long time now but melee can do good on them when properly equipped and with it debuffed ( a 2K WS is not that bad you know >.< ). The unfair think about gods and melee is the fact that a BLM can do dommages when in alliance and rest oustide, witch is really harder for melees who are more the DoT kind of dommage (even if somre rely mostly on WS dommages, they need TP).

                              To conclude, I think that having merits caps matching the strong point of a job can be a nice thing but have to be handled carefully. ( allowing more HTH merits in the MNK category should make it for example )
