    Re: Guts

At level 15 I ran all the way from Windy to Jeuno Solo scared shitless the whole way. I picked up four gobs just outside the gate to Jeuno and almost didn't make it. Riskyest thing I've tride in game.

      Re: Guts

That first run to Jeuno is a rite of passage which everyone should go through. I was level 9 THF (no sub) when I first did it. This was shortly after running around Giddeus following a high level mage (well, they were at least 20 or so). I bumped into someone (I think they were a lvl 11 NIN) and lost sight of the mage, and stopped and chatted to the guy I'd run in to. He offered to show me around the zone, which I accepted. Shortly after I fell down a hole and got us both killed - who puts invisible holes in tunnels anyway??

That's how I made my first friend in the game. He's still my friend now, and still teases me about our first encounter. He was the one who suggested I try BST, as I had itchy feet and kept exploring in crazy places.

I still explore places I shouldn't. When ToAU came out, I spent a few days running around the new areas just because they were there . When I was doing my supply run for Captain Whatsherfacewithabighammer, I met up with a 74 SAM/NIN on the same run. We got very lost, they ran out of oils so I had to Sneak us both (not easy when you only have 123mp), but we made it.

      /stops rambling
I have heard that those who celebrate life
walk safely amongst the wild animals.
When they go into battle, they remain unharmed,
the animals find no place to attack them
and weapons are unable to harm them.
Why? Because they find no place for death in them.

        Re: Guts

I guess i had alot of guts yesterday.

Ouryu fight, helping a friend. Ive done Oreo about 6 times and havent lost yet, helped alot of people with it because i love that fight. I allways end up getting hate because BLM should just unload all his shits on that gimp behemoth. Yesterday i did 2 freezes, then manafonted and those 30 seconds were spent unloading tier 2 nukes. Ele-seal, aspir, couple ticks of MP and freeze again. He was on me for the most of the battle, with Bind Gravity and Sleep, it was a fun rush.

            Re: Guts

This is a little less guts, and a little more determination, which I guess does require a bit of guts.

I was a brand new BST (level 16) and I was tired of fighting in Tahrongi Canyon so I thought that the next place to go would be Buburimu Pennisula which would have been a good idea had I been level 17. At 16 the lowest level there conned EM and so 85% of the place was T, VT, or IT. This didn't stop me at all. I played it cool for a bit and got about 1000 xp under my belt and then I went a little crazy. I had a great streak in which I managed to chain 3 a VT and get 240xp in one kill. 240 is a beautiful number when you're used to 50-100. I had to keep trying it.

After about three days of 3-4 hours a day I was still at about 1000 xp because for each successful chain of kills I would have a chain of deaths. For some strange reason I still loved BST and haven't stopped playing it since. Hells yeah.

              Re: Guts

Well i'm a rdm. I think i got the guts.

One of the biggies i've done. Lvl 42 i think. Was farming in Quifm, killing weapons for the sword for the map. Trickster Kinetix pops. I ask the LS "how tough is he?" no answer... should i go for it? well he aggros. So instead of running i stay and fight. Who's some trickster to pick a fight with me. Long and short of it is it pushed me hard and was a long drawn out fight, with refresh right through, Hitting convert, chainspell i finished the fight with about 100 hp left and waiting for refresh to give MP (basically had hit 0). Checked somepage and they reckon he's soloable at 50 (i know this is just a guideline, but it made me feel good).

To be honest i spend far too much of my time in this game wandering around areas i shouldn't (usually without a map), fighting things solo that i shouldn't, and i love it. I wish there was more of this risk and adventure involved in more of the game. But normally unless i'm prepared to wander around alone the risk ain't there. Too many people won't try stuff unless it's virtually risk free. THis is something thats playing on mind at the moment.

I think the big difference is the reward for taking a risk and doing something challenging is much great for BST. To most jobs DC would be a great challenge, but the rewards are weak. Something challenging a BST in the same way would be of a higher difficulty, and therefore yields a higher reward (exp wise). I do things like this just for the challenge, but most people are less interested in challenges for challenges sake i think.

please also take a look at this and give your opinions...

So i put to you a question, is there a way to find other gutsy people who'll take a risk and a challenge?

                    Re: Guts

Okay, I consider this gutsy for a WHM. While farming organs in Sea, I (as WHM/BLM) will marathon Sleep 3-4 mobs at a time, while I keep my MNK/NIN friend Hasted, healed, etc. These mobs are all tough mobs. But I keep most of the slept and take very little damage due to my stoneskin. Most BSTs would think fighting 3-4 T mobs at a time is crazy.

(BTW, my BST is 55, and my MNK/NIN friend's BST is 65, we know all about soloing, and having balls)

And the biggest guts of all -----> Level BST <----- Gotta have guts for that lol. Especially after the update. Death! Can i have it? Yes, Please

                        Re: Guts

Gotta love Wings of Fury--it's the recruiting poster for BST. I think it took 2 stacks of seals to get my precioussss....

Anywho, the way I find people as nutty as I am is to do something nutty and see who else is there. Anyone by themselves not farming has got to be at least as nuts as I am.

People who talk in town are good too. Ever notice there can be 400 people but no one says a word? Or all you hear are casino shouts and Kraken Club sales? Pick a conversation with someone in Lower Jeuno in /s and see what they do..I betcha they go to /t quick.

Soloing Trixter at 42? Pallas? Gutsy as hell! Soloing Wings of Fury? Yup, good stuff. Anybody solo G1? G3? Dark Spark?

Well, not at the levels they are for, but I soloed G1 for many people. For myself, I soloed the mold though. G3 I soloed at 60, and I've soloed G2 for people now that I am 75 (that is a hoot).
