Mercurial Kris BC with 3 BSTs?

I'm leveling my BST pretty much for the sole purpose of BCs, KSs and ENM fights, as well as taking a break from the xp grind that comes with being a high level MNK. In reading up on the Pirate's Chart level-capped fight that takes place in the Dunes, just about every single strategy boils down to "bring SMNs who have Ramuh, Astral Flow". Other strategies I've seen rely on sleepers like BLM and BRD.

But the lone BST-centric strategy I came across only had a some slightly helpful information (don't Charm and Familiar before you trigger the fight as your pets will immediately uncharm; trigger the fight, then find pets). As for in-depth strategy, nothing other than "each NM will go down after 2-3 crabs". But there's no mention of what kind of crabs we're talking about (i.e. DCs, EMs, or Ts). Does anyone have any insight to this fight?

OK, I don't like to talk about stuff I haven't done, but it looks like a BCNM 20 fight, so if you're capped at 20, that rules out jug pets so they're talking about charming the local crabs.

For a BCNM, I'd want to charm the toughest thing I could find and Familiar it as soon as possible.

They key tip you heard sounds like a winner--imagine using your 2 hr ability and the beginning of the fight erases it >.<.

GL on the knife, tho--it looks like a rare drop.

You would have to find some pugs around there since they would be the highest. Its not an easy fight. All use 100 fists and they do it at the same time almost. At least 1 person has to stay near the ??? during the little custscene type thing. Good luck.

I've done this fight oh.... 23 or 24 times now (dang the drop rate SUCKS for me... but that's another story)

This fight is EASY with 3 bst

Especially now that pets don't uncharm when you trigger the BCNM (they used to)

There are 3 things you will need to win the fight

1 Pet Food Zeta
1 Fishing Rod
any type of bait

That's all. Seriously. Me and my friends don't even bring lvl 20 gear. We do it naked.

Winning is a simple 10-step process

1) Charm leeches from the oasis and run down to the ???

2) Trigger the BCNM. Pets no longer uncharm, so you don't have to recharm them anymore. It should be decided ahead of time which mob each bst will engage.

3) Send your pet on your mob as soon as it spawns. Try to spread the mobs out cuz they all have AOE that can be a real pain.

4) Start fishing immediately after your pets are on the mobs and you're positioned properly

You will fish up either a Mithran Snare or a Tarutaru Snare

Mithra Snare = Mob can not 2hr
Tarutaru Snare = Mob hits for only 1 or 2 damage for 30 seconds

Either one will nullify the enemy's 2hr

5) Use the snare on the mob when it triggers its 2hr like you would use any other item (ie: anima)

6) Reward your pet with the Zeta when it gets low.

7) Sit back and watch things die

8) Open chest

9) Swear profusely when the M. Kris doen't drop AGAIN

10) Go back to fishing

I forgot about the leeches. You can also fish before the mobs spawn. Nice 10 step process Xanfien.

Thanks for the info, Xanfien. At mentioned above, my BST is 23. The pugs at Whitebone are just now conning EM to me, so I will have no trouble charming them. However, to a lvl 20 BST those same pugs will be T to maybe even IT. Would it be within my partners' interest to maybe get to level 23~24 so any T pet at 20 would be significantly easier to charm prior to the level capping? This is the first I've heard that the pets don't uncharm once the fight is triggered. (I don't mean to sound like a Doubting Thomas, but BSTs guard their xp like Scrooge McDuck guards his Number One Dime.)

You are correct to be sceptical about the pets not uncharming, because they used to. It was only this last time that we did the fight that they didn't. It surprised the heck out of us. Whether this will be permanent, or is a glitch to be fixed, time will tell. As of 2 days ago, however, they didn't uncharm. As for pet selection, since a Zeta will heal a pet of that level up to full, even a crab that your lvl 20 friend charms will work for this BCNM. When pets used to uncharm, I was stuck using crabs for pets since I was the one triggerin the BCNM and couldn't run all over looking for a good pet. It was still very easy to beat it with 2 leeches and a crab, though sometimes I'd wade in with my battle-axe for a hit or 2 to help my crab out. We did Familiar our pets after the battle began this last time, even though they didn't uncharm, to be sure they wouldn't uncharm, but later on I did the Brigand's Chart quest (same idea, trade to ??? in Buburimu). I charmed a pugil and triggered the quest. It didn't uncharm, I didn't Familiar, and it stayed with me the entire time the level cap was triggered. I'd probably still use Familiar even if the pets will last the whole duration, just to make em a bit stronger, and to guard that Number One Dime of mine
