  • Tips for Exp. In Sky?

Finally got 72 and a decent buffer so I now have my chance to try Ru'Aun Gardens as an exp spot.

I've been doing Flamingo vs. Sprinkler, but I'm finding it difficult to keep the downtime to a minimum using ninja as a sub job, and it seems far too risky to sub white mage. Any advice?

i did bird vs bird til 74, camp was in the back where youd go if headed towards kirin, i say bird vs bird cause they dont link or aggro. only chance is with windcutter but that is always rare. not to mention they respawn very fast. at 73 you can try bird vs sprinkler, but i stuck with bird vs bird. if you hit 74 an still wish to stay in sky, then you can go bird vs groundskeeper. i was getting chain 3 for 310 exp and no ring. groundskeeper sometime will use a move call "MELTDOWN" its like a bombs explode.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

I did Flamingo vs Flamingo till all Flamingos con as DC/EM to my lvl, then Flamingo vs Groundkeeper.

      /NIN for Utsusemi is key.

no mobs aggro to magic in the grassy area, so all you really need is stoneskin. i only say this cause at 74 an 75, my bst rips hate very easily as /nin. even when the flamingo has landed 5 hits, i usually take it by the second atk turn.

Re: Tips for Exp. In Sky?

I actually did /whm vs sprinklers quite easily here. I'd use 2 birds per sprinkler, just because a flare or something like that could screw me on only 1 pet.

So basically, I'd throw the first bird at it, let em fight til the sprinkler was at 3/4 health. Then a quick pet swap. Then I'd fight with my bird.

What I found was if I stood on the exact opposite side of the sprinkler, and edged in carefully so I was at the maximum distance away that I could be and still swing my axe, then I was out of AOE range from the -ga spells it'd cast on my flamingo. After that, it was just keeping up blink and stoneskin and regen (yay Gaudy Harness!) and finishing em off like any other mob. Gravity from Mysterious Light was annoying, but due to being out of AOE range, it wasn't deadly, so I found these to be very nice to xp on.

          Hope that helps.

I posted a pretty extensive flamingo vs flamingo guide in the Anthologies sub forum. Use your Pick of Trials and a Gaudy Harness and you won't pull hate too much.

Like you I tried flamingo vs sprinkler thinking I wanted to kill high T mobs for good exp. But sometimes I would get hit by something nasty and suffer downtime.

I found bird vs. bird to be acceptably fast xp and safe, too. At 73 I killed EM or T birds and when they were gone I used DCs against pots. But I would make sure the DC bird was left outside its area so it would repop EM or T (hopefully). That way I didn't need to kill DCs or wait around while converting them.

I did it as BST/WHM at G-9/H-9 where you can use magic out of range of dolls and pots. I used Blink and/or Stoneskin to minimize damage, Regen to heal up and pet food Zeta (bring a few stacks) when an EM pet had trouble vs a T+ mob.
