so i'm making a payment over the phone of $100 to the cable company and the lady says "not enough" and I'm like "not enough my left nut that's all I got" and she starts in with "then you ain't got no internet" and the next thing you know there I am minus my left nut down at the pawn shop pawning my mom's gold teeth and nobody's really concerned that she's still attached to them which is cool and What? no I don't think this game appeals to the obsessive overly-caffienated no not at all...
General merits apply 1 point per 10 levels. Meaning if you have HP+40, Lv10 to 19 jobs will only have HP+10. To get full HP+40, your job needs to be at least 40.
Job specific merits apply only to that job and the job needs to be lv75. You need to be lv75 anyways to apply merits anyways... But if you do cure casting time -20% for example, it won't work on RDM cure.
RunningDemon's Silly Post Skill increases 2 points! Grats! =P
Sincere Grats actually RD! I have slowed down on Merits a bit lately, been too busy LOSING XP (got Snoll Tzar to 2% last night with our 4 BST + 2 SMN Static -.-) So far I have spent Merits getting Axe Skill to 3, and Crit to 3. I will probably take Crit a bit higher if not capping it before moving on. Bout halfway to Crit%+ 4 (2 of 4 Merits.)
I admit, I didn't pay uber attention to my Crit rate before i started, but i tend to THINK i see many more Crits now that I am meriting it. No problems caused since my XP time now is pretty much spent in one of the following three places:
1) Jugburn / Cluster Farm in Riverne A01
2) Jug/Avatarburn on Imps in Caedarva
3) Soloing DCs-Ts in Arrapago Reef.
So Crit poses no problems. I am also leveling NIN/BST (32 atm) and have had to adjust how soon i join my pet, but it is not bad at all.
Grats again RunningDemon! My Scythe is sitting pretty at 200 and I am not so eager to start skilling it again. Then... i have the 300 point Trial Scythe and... god forbid the 500 Point Gravedigger to unlock XDDD.
God, getting scythe from 200-240......it took me forever.....
I had been working on it in all my free time last month, all for 10 levels. It is a pain in the ass to level, you are looking at 30-40 hours soloing to get it taht last bit if you are lucky.
Another good way to exp, find a DRG/BLU with all his Healing Breath gear and Locuacious (i butchered the spelling) who likes to tank, and just sit down in Bhau Thickets on T Sea Pucks. Me and my one friend hit chain 5 and 4k+/hr easy all the time, and it's fun.
This may be a newbish question, but are there certain mob types that would be best to target for scythe skillups? I've tried skilling on pugils and undead in tormorai canal, while working on my NPC, but it seems to move really slowly. My gut feeling is that it doesn't matter and it's going to be slow anywhere, but I'd love to hear what you guys have to say. My scythe is still back around 170 so I have a loooong way to go and am looking for any tidbits that can shave hours off the skilling process.
It's snail speed no matter what. I was lazy and just hit Mount Zhawhatever and did crawler on pugil and went afk half the time. Best advice I can give is get Scarecrow's Scythe, Brutal earring, and haste gear to make the swings happen more.
VIT is useless for BST. You should not be getting hit more than once/twice a fight, if that.
Crit+ is huge, Axe is awesome.
After that....stats are a pain in general, 360k for getting one to +5
MP is 210k to cap
Emnity- or Enemy Crit- cost 100k to cap, but I can't decide which I want more.
And when I do my BST specific traits, I am doing Call Beast to knock it down to 4:10, and + Killer traits for general usefulness.

Yes, but it's not useless for Taru.

P.S. I should also add that I have a fondness for tanking and plan to level PLD.

After weeks and weeks of forgetting to get my setup info from my PS2 at home(stinks sometimes only having *real* internet at work), I'm finally here at my new home
Ya know? Given the impact that enmity has in relation to practically every job, you'd almost think that it would be better off being job-specific.
A big hello to all my old aquaintences and grats on 75 Graelinn! ^^
I feel ya on that scythe skill, RD . . . Mine's sittin at 180, and I'm seriously thinkin of just subbin war and formin some skillups with pals to take it any further. It bears some rather striking similarities to watching paint dry.
Problem I have with possibly meriting Emnity-, is that I plan on leveling PLD as a sub, or mebbe more afterwards, which means I would ahve to remove the merits. Meanwhile Enemy Crit- helps BST and PLD, and anything else, with no ill effect like -emnity.

Skilling it sucks period. I tried to work scythe into any exp situation I could and was able to keep it fairly up to date. Leveling off Colibri's have been a dream. I only need one pet using Colibri vs Colibri so after two hits from the bird you can pull out your Scythe and melee along time. For the first time, I got my scythe capped shortly before I dinged 73. Now back to skilling that aweful, aweful thing. Skilling up 2 handed weapons just blows so bad, that I think SE should make some sort of adjustment in how skillups are earned. Dagger, Sword and Axe are so easy since they have such low delays.
Hehe, Demon, I love that you just toss that out there "you know like... just run out and grab yourself a Scarecrow Scythe, a Brutal Earring" =P I will get right on that! (Of course i would love both... but i will have to stick to my Haste from W.Turban)
The last place I did Scythe was in Kuftal. I did a bit in The Tree afterwards, and will likely go there again when i start it up again.
You know what i keep thinking... i need to find 2 other people that wouldn't mind wasting an Assault ID every so often and just go spend 30 minutes wailing on the Brittle Rock in Excavation Duty =P
As for Merits... I really don't know what i will do after Crit+ and Axe are capped. Cross that bridge when i come to it i suppose.
