  • Level 58

Hi I just dinged 58 on my Beasmaster and i am wondering if there are any places
to lvl besides Garlaige. I really like to cap my axe each lvl so are there any places that I
can go to fight monsters that are not bombs. If my only option is Toraimorai Canal then how do I get access to it? Thanks for any help.

But bombs are like the paddle initiation into the BST fraternity.....

      Re: Level 58

I'm not a beastmaster, but I do have a lot of SMN and BST friends and I remember something they told me a while back. At level 58, if you have Chains of Promathia installed, you should be able to get excellent XP in the early parts of Uleguerand Range.

      Variable Hare Lv58-61
      Snoll Lv60-63
      Esbat Lv59-61
      Uleguerand Tiger Lv60-63

      Hope that helps!

You can go try Snolls in Ulguerand Range (spelling?) or stick with garlaige. I found Garlaige, behind banishing gate #2, be better. The rabbits you'll use as pets in Ulguerand are somewhat charm resistant and most are T to you as lvl 58 so a lot of uncharms will happen. I'd stick with Garlaige. You can always go to Boyahda Tree at 60 and cap your axe if you're worried about that.

I am pretty sure my friend and I went to Quicksand Caves. It is the area with the presure plates, you go though D11/12 in Western Altepa to get there.

Use the Lizards on the Anticans, there are 3 lizards in the front area before the ants, so you can pull to here and release and not have to deal with despawning. Convert your Lizards to DC/EM and go to town, pull Ants back to Lizards area. There is a close zone, so if a link comes, just zone it.

This is some awesome XP, but is really only good in a Duo or Trio. Duo is great Trio is awesome too. We prefered to try to start with the PLD ants for chains, and work our way too chain 4-5 ending the chains with the BLM or RNG type ants.

            Re: Level 58

You can also go to Ullegurand range and do Rabbits vs Esbats/Worms.

Zone into Ullegurand from Xarcabard. If it's day, all you'll need is invis to get to camp. If it's night you'll also need sneak to get past the undead hound that pops. Ok, so cast invis and hug the right wall until you get to a tunnel with bats and worms. Just outside the top of the tunnel there are two hares...these are your pets. You'll need to convert them to EM by charming them and releasing them outside their roaming radius. Do this until they are both EM.

Then use these EM rabbits to fight the bats and worms. If I remember correctly, both bats and worms aggro sound, so you'll have to sneak pull. You can pull the bats up to your rabbits and fight within their roaming radius so they don't depop. The worms are actually easier to kill than the bats, but since you can't pull them it might be a little tricky to keep your rabbits EM. I fought here pre-patch so I don't really have a good strategy for fighting the worms and keeping your pet that I know works. I'm sure you can figure something out. You're a BST after all!

At 59 I then moved up to snoll fighting. I just charmed every hare regardless of what it checked. With full AF, charms lasted long enough for the snoll to use TP. After it used a non-hypothermal explosion TP move (I think that's the name of their self-destruct move), I would release and charm another hare. This did cut into xp for fights where I charmed Ts, but cut in less than trying to convert the whole area back to DC-EM every hour or so. You have to be really careful when fighting snolls as the tigers around aggro sight. So keeping invis up at all times is important. I highly suggest having a dark staff and a gaudy harness for this area.

              Re: Level 58

I never once exp'd in Garbage Shitadel. At 58, I leveled in Toraimarai Canal near the Windy Waters zoneline. Impish Bats vs Mindcravers and Fleshcravers is pretty good exp. Just make sure you pull the skeles to your bats home radius so they don't despawn after you have them converted to EM. Bats vs Skele's have always been pretty easy exp, and the nice thing about this camp is if you get into trouble there's a zone nearby. I'd wait on Ulegrand Range til 59 or even 60 when you'll get more rabbits spawning EM/DC. My favorite camp in that place was down in the valley where the Buffalos roam. Tons of rabbits and snolls that go boom. Buffalo are easy enough to avoid, they are slow and are pretty shortsighted.

If you are going to do the canal, make sure you have the Rhinostery Certificate. If you don't have one, you gotta comlete a chain of quests to get it. Lemme find a link to it...

                        Re: Level 58

Around level 58 before CoP came out:

I remember going to Toraimarai Canal, I didn't fight the skeletons and bats, but I went further in and used canal pugils (lower level than the stygian pugils) to fight crabs in one of those big rooms with the walkways over the water and usually a scorpion sitting around. They have that annoying defense up and there wasn't sushi back then so I ate a chiefkabob and went with BST/NIN sometimes.

I also did Sea Serpent Grotto, I think it was behind the mythril door and on that map my main camp was F-8 and ran up and down to F-7 or so fighting sahagins and pugils. It wasn't very good exp but when every other place was crowded I'd go here.

                            Re: Level 58

ule range is mainly tough at 60, so i dont see how a lvl 58 could do any good there. especially since mobs are sensitive an will depop even when you put them in there supose radiusso your gonna have to keep swapping pets til you finally get an evan match.

58-60 i was still in garliage behind gate #2. nobody ever bothered me, an thats something at times i really miss. you can also do bettle vs beetle an beetle vs bone, if your worried about your weapon being capped.

then again i was never worried about how slow the exp was or how low my exp numbers were, because in the end, my hour totals were always around the same. little downtime with weaker mobs, still equals more downtime with higher lvl mobs.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

I did the Toramai Canal route as well....

                              it was nice, easy exp.

just "Heel" your pets during the mage's AM spells, and you will have an easy go of it.
