Soooo I'm a total cheap ass and don't really feel like spending my entire "fortune" on a kabrakan's axe or wrath tabar. A high lvl friend of mine (smn 71) will be able to help me with this whenever so we'll probably go try and find the tag and then try to duo the NM. Just wondering what other bst's experience with this nm is. I think we'll be fine just throwing funguars and carbies at him till he dies but any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Tribunus & Tungi

if i was a bst, i think i would use a kakraban (sp) because its a nice axe i saw a 66 bst using it in a PT <_< it ruled
wrath tabars are also nice o.o but if you really cant afford it, go for tungi, i heard it has hidden effects, but im not sure. Also it has like a 50% drop rate... im 0/1 :/

I've read up and used Tungi enough to know it doesn't have any hidden effects.

However, it has exceptionally low delay for an axe.

I did the fight with a couple friends from my linkshell. Bring echo drops and be prepared to go looking for another tag if it doesn't drop.

I got a guide on how to solo it in the link in my sig, if you're extremely curious about it. I personally just use the Wrath Tabar to make up for my (Too Weak) taru STR. The TP averages out to the same anyways, so I figure I'll do the most damage while I'm gaining it.

I'm not a beastmaster, but I did go out and grab a Tungi for my Warrior. I must say, I love it.

A lot of people have said that there's a hidden effect which increases the rate of Double Attack, but I can't say I agree with that or not.

It's definitely a great axe though, and the NM is a pretty easy kill. Just make sure you have a good tank and healers to keep him alive, because he hits pretty hard, especially with Mighty Strikes.

If you know your way around Quicksand Caves, the Antican tag is pretty easy to get. I don't know much on the drop rate of the axe however, since I got it on the first drop and haven't fought him since.

If you're 61+ go solo him. Jugs wont be that good as your pet will get destroyed before timer is up again. Climhazzard had a post about how to do it, but i'm not goin back to all to find it. Basically, charm a liz, pop the NM, sic the liz on him. Sneak up, run back to where the 3 beetles are at teh entrance, and then heel your liz. Let him link all the ants till he gets close to ya, release, charm beetle, wave goodbye to links. You now have the NM at the entrance with 3 beetles to swap out on him till he's dead. You can also zone him if you get in trouble/mischarm and he wont depop right away since he is an NM.

Personally, I have the tungi for when I go /nin, I still use my Wrathe as it simply hits harder and I was able to notice a difference in rampages between the two. The Tungi is an awesome axe, dont get me wrong, but I got used to the power in my hits with the wrath in a short time, and switching between the two, I decided to stick with the tabor for now.

I love my Tungi. I use it for 60 cap events as I sold both my Wrath Tabar and Kabrakans axe off to fund my Woodvilles and Maneater. Very affordable :p , and is a good axe to use exping.

Re: Tribunus & Tungi

Has anyone done comparison between wratty, kabby and tungi? I've been using Wrath Tabar since I could equip it, but if Tungi is soloable at 61 and doesn't hurt dmg too bad I might get it.

The delay seems very good but I'm worried how much it'll hurt my damage compaired to Wrath.
I'm currently leveling my nin sub and looking at the damage/delay ratio it would be a good axe to off hand as /nin?

First post on these forums, btw

Re: Tribunus & Tungi

Too each their own. I have not used Tungi but have heard good things about it.

Kabrakahn's Is well worth the investment though for a solo/duo BST. The slow effect procs a ton and it really helps your pets survivablity. Not to mention that you can use this Axe into the 70s no problem. After that, you can sell it back for at least the gil you spent, maybe even a profit (I payed 100K for my Kabrakahn, sold for 750K. I payed 600K for Wrath and it is ove 1mil now). There will allways be some BST wanting this axe and same with Wrath. It's not really money wasted as ownership of the axe can be counted toward your net worth.

Re: Tribunus & Tungi

I loved Tungi. I sold my Kabrakan's (nice axe, but overrated and not worth the price) the minute I got it at level 60. Lowest delay axe in the game. Also great to have that free axe in storage later on for Lvl 60 cap stuff. I used it til 63 when I got Franny, but then went back to my Tungi just because of the Tungi delay. So, Tungi lasted me til 68 when I got a Acha d'Armas (I love this axe even more^^) but can easily get you to 70 for the solo BST. Franny is also a nice free alternative at 63, and is much easier to get now that AQ doesn't drop cloth anymore.

Re: Tribunus & Tungi

I used Kabrakan's for a good long time, and only Trioed (BST+SMN+THF for TH) Tribunus when i thought the Tungi+Kabrakans with /NIN would be good 60 Cap CoPs. Sadly... CoP Static is no more (well it is, but i am no longer in it) so I have yet to even take my Tungi out for a drive ; ;

NM is not too bad if you know what to expect as far as Aggro in the area and available pets go. Heywood's summary of Clim's strat is good info. Also, remember that its not a 100% drop so if you felt so inclined having a THF join in the fun is not a bad idea. I went 1/2 on this, the 2nd time being when i brought a very scared THF along with TH2 =P

Just soloed Tribunus as BST60/WHM30. Fight took about 50 mins because I had to zone twice. Things started going down hill when one of the three beetles I was cycling around died due unfortunate critical from Tribunus. Well, I got around with a few Carries and some Pet food and managed to finish the fight even though I had only one pet left at a point and Call Beast down. Charm kited and called Carries until respawns.

Very exciting fight. I recommend for all to try it out.

Drops were only a couple of Iron Ores so Tungi for me yet.
