  • Migrating Information - Wiki

I don't know how well this idea will work, considering that a lot of the best info from Alla is set up in both User Journals and old BST postings on Alla.

In looking through the information that has already be migrated via RunningDemon and Xenthan, a lot of the meat is still on Alla. There is not much we can do about that really. What we could do though is to copy and prune as much of this info out of the old Alla post and onto sites like the Wiki or onto free blogging sites and adjust the guides to link to the Wiki or blogs instead of Alla. The blogs may be a better option for the info in things like BST Anthologies and the Updated BCNM, ENM, KSNM threads where the info is posted in Journals. Many free blogs allow the readers of the blogs to add comments similar to how the Journals on Alla work and the blog owner can moderate if need be.

I realize this would be a huge endeveor, but with the Wiki other BST can help and with the Blogs the structure just needs to be set up similar to the Journals setups then allow users to post again and quote the original Alla quotes in the case of the Anthologies.

I am willing to help, I am sure others would help as well. I don't want to copy someones guide over without permision to do so though.

    Re: Migrating Information - Wiki

I've got a thread discussing the moving of the Anthologies to the wiki over in the wiki forums:

    Check it out.

Any help would definitely be nice.

think i'd be good to transfer the information past 12/12/2005 for lvl 35+ over. Anything below 35 can stay because the despawning doesn't affect it much.

Your site is awesome and the article system is great for guides. However, the magic of the anthologies is the ability of ANY beastmaster to post in a category/area and share his experiences for that area. An area that works well for some may not be great for others due to playstyles or general likes and dislikes. For example, I never had any luck with Gusgen Mines doing flies on bombs and died 3 times there. I found Bibiki much better for the same levels, but some loved Gusgen and had huge success there.

BST Anthologies really needs to be something that other BST can post contributions too.

The Wiki is something that ANY player can contribute to. All you need to do is register for an account...just like registering for a forum. Granted, adding text to a wiki entry isn't as simple as making a new post. I will try and make it as easy as possible for those who are not wiki savvy. Also, I'll make sure an post a table of contents style thread here to make it easily accessible.
