How do you guys deal with XP parties?

So i'm back on the grind nowadays and it's been fair. I've been spending the bulk of my time the past 2 levels in the donut room in CN. now, i know cn is a popular place for all: xp close to jeuno, rdm and mnk have af here i believe, farming items isnt pretty bad here and all the other great reasons ppl love this creepy crawly place.

I've been harassed by npc levelers and normal xp pts the past few days. Tonight most notibly. I was a lone in the donut room tonight for about 2 hours. killing away rumble crawlers, exorays, blazer beetles and the like. a bit after my 2nd hour an xp pt makes their way down near the rumble spawns and begins to setup. ok no biggie, ive played next to xp pts before. a rumble spawns i pull it and immediately i get like 4 tells from 4 different people of that party.

"can you not kill our xp mobs? =("

i reply back, "their my xp mobs too. i've been here for 2hrs already"

some more replies "but you're killing all the mobs here"

i reply "if i dont kill some, you'll be killing all of them"

etc etc.

i'm usually a nice guy (i swear, honest) last time a pt came down, before they began, they asked me if i would leave the rumbles alone. i said 'well, if you leave everything else outside (ie: beetles, exos, mushussu) alone too' he agreed, and we were 2 happy people.

it just really irritates me that they think bst dont need xp either, or the fact that my xp is less significant than theirs since its 1 vs 6. i dont encroach on them when they setup camp first, what makes them be able to do it to me? i've told some of my bst ls mates and they said if they really give you a hard time, one of the 70+ bst will come and clear the whole room with CC till they get the picture.

how do you guys handle these type of situations? pack up and leave? or compete for mobs?

I think it's a common assumption that BST can level everywhere anywhere. So they don't have to level at regular places where parties camp. Not entirely true, but many people think this way.

I don't know BST job at all but are there no other good places to level? I mean, I've seen lots of threads about the fact that ppl always level in the same stupid place instead of trying to go to new places/xp zones. Isn't BST a job that adjust to "xp when I want, where I want"?

I always thought that one of the good things about BST is that you are not forced to go the same old places.

What Jei said is almost word for word the same thing Ive seen in countless other threads very similar to poor omni's. People say bst can lvl when they want which is true but if anyone told you they can lvl where they want they were dirty stinking liars.

Bsts must have these things in order to effectively solo:
- a very thin range of enemies in a fairly small environment.
- This range must consist of pets equal to our lvl or maybe high DC at best.
- enemies that are on average T or maybe low VT.

These are very stringent demands for a GOOD bst exp area and if the pets arent there, the enemies arent there, or they are too far apart then the exp will be boarderline terrible at best.

Like any other player we want to hunt enemies that are soft and squishy full of lots of exp without having to send 3-4 pets at them so the enemy must be easy. Unfortunately this quite often brings us into direct comeptition with parties 5-6 lvl below us.

Sucks to hear you getting some flack in CN Omni but cheer up, once you get to lvl 53-54 you can go into the sewers of sandoria and sic slimes against bats for 2-3 lvls. No one will ever mess with you down there.

Honesty, just Blist 'em all if they start to pester you, you have the right to exp anywhere you want, as do they, never in my RDM career did i exp in CN, and it's lvl 57, so there, that argument is countebalanced and anything else they say is just blatant stupidity.

Now, if you showed up AFTER them, they have a right to be upset, but it still is your choice, but the only time i get pissed (even though i dont mention it, as people have a choice to do whatever they want), is when some guy starts lvling his NPC on the mobs i am exping off of, or when they just want to skillup or farm, this happens constantly on Kuftal, but someone will allways complain, and they move, most of the time.

it just has been real irritating lately. ive had skill up pts sit there and just purposely provoke the mob i was about to atk b/c a 4 drg pt wants to lvl up their staves. ive had countless number of npc lvlers provoke away from me pets i was swapping or mobs i xp on. then xp pt's crashing on my camp and acting like they own the place. it's really irritating. i try to change up the places i level b/c staying in one area for 2-3 levels will just drive me nuts. i rotate things around to help with the monotony.

see, that's what irritates me. the lack of logic some people show. im here first. you bitch at me? if you were here first, i wouldnt bitch at you for taking all the mobs. these people actually do it. it baffles me sometimes when it comes to other people's stupidity. i was borderline just about to warp home, switch to nin and just come down and kill everything in sight. just to spite them. sad thing is, idiots are idiots for a reason and probably wouldnt get the picture.

i noticed at 23-25 that i could out dd most melee jobs because of pet and my dd how is yours or rather how does our damage rank against other jobs?

nt/jei: yea if theres a migration, im the first one to go. unless nt beats me to World Shifter.

i've gotten a few pt's as bst in the 40s and it was ok. nothing spectacular. dot is good, but i dont drop nearly any big numbers as other jobs.

well the one reason i dont have a static is b/c well, that's the whole basis of me playing bst. i dont need to wait for anyone. a bst duo i can see would be managable, but having to coordinate 5 other peoples time schedules (more like having 5 ppl wait on me to logon) is just too much. i had a 5 man static with my nin from 32-60. it was just too much to deal with. i had a 2 man static 60-75 and that was tiring since i work full time.

anyhow. sewers in san doria hates me. you can't xp at the w.ron zone anymore since oozes despawn. you need to fight in the thick of things, which is fine and dandy till you get a miss charm. had a real shitty xp session last night. total xp gained: ~4000, total xp loss: ~3600. i kept forcing myself to hit 55 but as you can see, did more harm than good

Omni, in the sewers are you camping in the path from F-9 to F-10? It can be a pain in the ass getting the initial charm on the slime as a 54 bst but after that you shouldnt have to swap pets mid-battle since any slime can solo a bat (with you meleeing). Are you just getting charm resisted a lot initially?

i was camping at g7-g8.
remember how the mob despawns now? dragging 1 dark aspic to the w.ron zone line isnt going to work anymore since you'll have to run all the way back out to find another dark aspic after you release it.

my charm rate, if i had to guesstimate would be like 65%. theres times when its no problem. there's times where ill mischarm a dc dark aspic 5 times in a row even after tame was used.

with my charm equip set, i have +22 chr and light staff.

I know what you mean about west ron, I camped there after the patch and I didnt fight by ron zone. There is a path in the water that goes south then east just before the ron zone at f-9 to f-10 where slimes and bats spawn next to each other. You can chain there quite nicely and once those are killed follow the path east, sneak past a ghost and you will find 3 more bats along with 2 slimes. The whole circuit is non stop chaining and works quite well. I think it would probably work better than where you are now. Also if you arent using it yet, tuna sushi helped my charm rate a little bit but honestly your charm rate sounds about average for that lvl, it gets better though. Anyways good luck.
