I'll say this though. It's terribly frustrating to compete with a bst because you use twice as many resources in terms of mobs. If you have two exp parties in an area that only really supports one, you can still eke out some weak experience. If there's a bst in the area that's eating two mobs per one fight, killing at a decent rate, the place is barren.

well it really depends on the area actually. the instance where this OP started from was in CN and i wasnt using their xp mobs as pets. i was using beetles/exos/mushsususussushsus as pets, mobs they dont kill and attacking rumbles. it would be like if another pt were there.

though i do understand when a bst uses both the same mob for pet and target, that does make it hard for other pts but i still think whoever gets their first and establishes camp should have first dibs if there isnt enough mobs.

when im in competition for mobs vs. exp pt, i usually just charm whatever i plan to kill, pull it farther than any puller feels comfortable running out to. Generally I've noticed that a bst duo or trio will kill a lot faster than a pt... so a many times it works itself out.

so far ive been free of annoying npc levelers, and whiny mid lvl pt's.
Bostenieux Obliutgeaslkfjegeh (sp) is great. no one ever bothers to come down there. If a wandering soul does make it down there it is usually 1) another bst, which i dont mind or 2) someone to get themselves a jelly ring from sewer syrup.

when i hit 57 im looking towards the xp rush from gc that everyone talks about but xp pts are there a lot using bats and beetles as mobs. anywhere else to go thats easily accessible solo? i read that toramanai canal and pso`xja are good areas but you need a few ppl to access. :\ any other suggestions?

Forget about toramanai until about 58-59. Its great if you have the windy fame to get access from windurst as there are bats to sic on mindcravers by the zone there. I never found a good place in pso'xja so I cant help you there. Seriously do all you can to get some friends to help you get behind banishing gate 2.

Hellmines. But the skellies are good while you're waiting for them to respawn... or if there is already another bst killing the bombs. Better to just stay there than go through the trouble of getting behind the gate again.
