ah i see what you are talking about. the passage right before the passage that leads to w.ron zone. i'll give that a try, i think i died 4 times last night. i should leveled by now if i didnt die. i wasnt using tuna sushi at the time, but i do from time to time, depending on its availability/price. i refuse to buy it when it reaches past 40k. it just perpetuates cooks to price gouge more.

Actually, cooks are hardly making a dime on most recipes. It's the fishermen who are making out like bandits. The fish market was depressed for a long time by bots and since the repeated nerfs to fishbots... supply of fish has collapsed. It's the same thing with tavnazian tacos, other kinds of sushi, basically anything that uses a fished-up ingredient.

Cooks profit, just not very well on (NQ) fish-stuff. You can't really generalize it as cooks making no money at all. Woodworkers profit, just not on (NQ) shihei. It's the same deal. They both have to HQ to pull ahead.

Back on topic: I can't say that I ever understood that line of thinking... The party comes in second and boots the BST. The only time I've had problems with BSTs would be when they'd purposefully release aggro stuff on me and/or my party. Which is especially funny when I didn't even know they were there until they tried to kill me.

But anyway...a few bad people can't (or shouldn't) represent the entire job. I've found that often parties/BSTs can level near each-other without much problem. Last time I did this, I was skilling up my friend's dagger on his level 75RDM in the 'range'. There was a BST there killing snolls. I talked to him and we worked it out where I'd kill the monsters they weren't touching. (I'm unable to remember if they were charming tigers and sending them against the snolls, or if they were charming rabbits.) We both got exp/skill and everybody was happy.

most likely he was using rabbits, tigers are the same lvl as snolls. Thats nice to hear that most people in this thread are considerate of bst's. I think the ones that aren't are just ignorant and selfish (at least all the ones Ive met have been).

that's the thing. people that post here are only a very small percentage of the ffxi community. which is a even smaller percentage of all people that post on all forums. which is only a small part of total ffxi community.

theres so many players out there that are just selfish, mean and spiteful.

anyhow, i found a duo with an ls mate and we worked bostineau like no other. dc-em funnel bats on werebats/hectacomb hounds. 8.5k in about 2.5 hours!

dark aspics still con dc to me, but at 55 the charm rate should be better right due to my level even though it still cons dc?

At 55 I still failed 1/5 charms and every so often the slime would take up to 4 charms but i was still doing very well. You can still do the sewers at 56 and I recommend it since it becomes even easier. After that exp kinda falls off and you need to move to garlaige. When you hit garlaige I strongly suggest you try to get behind banishing gate 2. You can camp back there for several days straight and go from 57 to 59-60 and the only people you will ever see are coffer hunters and the occasional competing bst. The trick once youre there is not dying

well, it looks like bst will be on hold for a bit. my whm sub is gimp, i cant use nin (my prefered sub) in most the places i can lvl at now due to the fact id be spending 100k+ just for oils alone. i have yet to venture to the new expansion areas which i am very eager to do.

anyhow, thanks for the tips thoronas! i really appreciate it.

oh just curious, when you say behind gate #2 that's the one NOT leading to where Roc spawns right (or was it smirguh, i forget). you just use the 2 ooze that spawn in the middle and kill everything around?

Correct it is not the one that leads to Roc. But you dont use the ooze, you get friends to help you open the gate and behind it is a paradise of mostly DC, Em and the occasional T beetle for you to sic on hellmines and then later fallen mages. Its like the basement only you dont have to compete with exp parties for beetles. But thats why dying back there sucks so bad, its hell to get back in there.

Oh and for the record Im half way to lvl 59 bst and my whm sub is still only 26. Hehehe.... yeah. Stoneskin would probably help back here but I do ok without it.

ya my whm is only 26 too. stoneskin would be nice as well as protect II.

right, i hate getting behind gates 2 and 3. 1 isnt so bad since more often than not a pt is back there. finding my helm coffer is going to be a major pain in the rear.

i wonder if theres any new expansion areas that would be perfect for bst!

From what Ive seen so far, there is nothing low lvl enough for us to exp of. The lowest mob has been VT in the new areas so far

i know you can charm those elephant looking things. kaklaualuaulu or however its spelled. i saw a rdm/bst whacking away at things last night.

for the corsair quest, every zone i travelled through had ep-em mobs in it.

No one owns any part of the game. If I see someone leveling somewhere out of respect I move on. It's not like there is only one place to level in the whole game. My sis got heat in the dunes for that while skilling up club, as if the mobs in the dunes are limited.

I ignore them for the most part. I've been slapped, cursed at in languages I don't understand, MPKed (yes even after the patch OH MY), told to go find another spot, etc, etc. But, most of the time, I just get right back up and keep doing my thing. Usually this will frustrate the perps so badly they will just leave.

When I go someplace I try to find a spot so out of the way and forlorn that nobody will usually make the trip to go out that far. If I see somebody in "my" spot, I go to an alternative. If somebody tries to camp over me and give me the "6>1" speech I just /blacklist and keep on it. No use getting into a war of words with the ignorant.
