  • BST for CoP

Hey guys.. Just wanna find out if there's anyone out there who has completed CoP as a BST the whole time or the majority. I wanna play BST but if I need another job to complete CoP then I'll level it as well...

Yeah, I started leveling WHM just for CoP. Now it's become a second main for me. There is only so much a BST can do in CoP missions. While a BST can solo to 75, their role in missions is simply as a DMG dealer. The fact that most of the time, you can only use jug pets doesn't help either.

Yea its a shame you need a party to slow you down for these runs hahahha. Jug pets are so weak at lvl 30 too >< maybe a /nin would help but im really not thinking so... boss fights a lvl 30 as bst... odds arent too good

          Re: BST for CoP

Pssst....look at my sig. That's my BST. That's my BST using Rampage on Promathia. That's my BST dealing the killing blow on Promathia. That's my BST pissing off my PT members because they didn't get the killing blow.

I wish I had more pictures of me doing the Pot BC before Promathia as BST. It worked very well as long as you're good at controling your pet.

One of the biggest challenges of playing BST in CoP is controlling your jug pet. If you're engaging multiple mobs at once, the slightest AE will make your pet switch targets and that's not a desirable thing of the multiple adds were meant to be slept or kited.

The main role of BST in CoP is damage dealer. I did Bst/Nin + pet jug most of the time--2 axes + pet = 3 constant attacks per round.

For level cap fights, funguar pet is the best--chance of 2x attack and an all round good WS-sic.

For no lvl caps, Couriercarrie for regular fights/item farming, Panzer/homonculous/cactuar for boss bcs.

Wow. Did you use BST on all the missions or just certain ones. For bosses like Oruryu, it seems to me a BST wouldn't be much help at least compared to BLMs or SMNs.

Oh well, I guess it doesn't really matter as I won't be leveling NIN as a BST sub for long time.

              Re: BST for CoP

Funguar works pretty well on Ouryu since all its WS except for maybe 'Frogkick' can hit flying targets, but that's about it. Otherwise, there are some BCs where I won't use BST. I won't use BST in Promy-vazhl, snoll tzar, and maybe Tenzen.

Snoll tzar and Tenzen are special cases since they're timed BCs and chances of success in those fights mean you'll need to bring in specialist jobs...in this case, jobs that do the most dmg quickly.

Mammet and Mithra BC (depending on how your group does them), you can actually go as either Bst/whm or Bst/nin. Your group can either have you be attacker or be kiter. Just remember to bring pet food zeta, heel without getting aggro on you, and time call beast so that you can pop out another pet instantly when the 1st dies.

              Double Post Edited:
I should have also said that at most times, BST doing CoP is too good to be true and in some cases, it is too good to be true. BST can do CoP. I've proved it and I'm pretty sure some others on other servers have as well. But I forgot to mention one costly detail...

From my point-of-view, for Bst to be able to do CoP effectively or to serve as a damage dealer in the same class as Rng or Drk comes with a hefty price tag that only "dedicated" Bsts are willing to put up with. By "dedicated", I mean ones who are willingly to pay the price to take the job and equipment far beyond an average BST.

For example, I won't choose an average BST in full AF using all NQ items, an average axe, eating meat kabob/tuna sushi, and using only CC pet as an attacker in my PT.

I want a BST wearing full hauberk set, optical hat, merman/spectacles/PC, 2 snipers/toreador (interchange with +5 STR rings for WS), amemet+1, life belt, woodville+jugg/maneater, eating sole sushi/bison steak, and uses a variety of high-end pet jugs as an attacker. If you have cursed equipment like Adaman or Hecatomb, then that's even better!

That's quite a hefty investment just to be good, don't you think? But at least it makes me smile everytime my parser shows my total dmg done (plus pet) out-dmging the Drk, Thf, Sam, or Rng.
