  • eq affect pets?

there's been a long debate on alla that people are turning into a semi flame war and karma troll heaven.

The debate is on if your equipped items and stat boosts will give your summoned pets an edge in battle.

Such as been stated, "if you stack on +45 str, your pets will hit 4% harder!"

    And

"I stacked +36 str and I noticed absolutely nothing different. In fact my pets hit for 2% less than when I summoned them naked"

Both sides have put up some numbers but it's getting a bit hard to read and I am curious what you guys think about it all?

doesn't sound like they do. a pet armor tho would be cool

-2% - +4%???? Doesnt sound like a lot to me at all. How many times are they trying it to determine those numbers? For percentages that small they would need a hell of a lot of tries to even think about saying it makes a difference. Not only that, but from what I've seen in this game ~10% or less difference can all be considered in the margin for error. Also, +45 str seems like it should make a lot more difference than just a few points. My heart tells me no, and my brain, well it tells me no as well. Though I do believe a chihuahua in a button up shirt could probably solo Kirin no prob.

        O_o

I think a chihuahua in a button up shirt could do alot more than solo kirin.

I bet he'd eat vrtra for breakfast!

        for clearification:

origional idea was tested a long time ago and I lost the thread but the authors were semi inconclusive.

They tested rabbits and realized eq did nothing. They then tested crabs and claimed that str eq will help a pet hit better since it was uncapped and will approach an EM version of you.

It has been recently tested with 12 CC vs a single DC antlion and a different person saw no significant difference.

Now another person came in and said that the methodology is flawed for the cc vs antlion tests and that he noticed that when he himself meleed (not pet) he got only 4% extra damage with +45 str equipment on when fighting DC flamingos at lv 75. which to him meant that a summoned CC should only experience a simular 4% bonus to his damage.

but at least he did prove that CC will not always be lv 75 when summoned. It does in fact have a few lv's of variance. How much though is still unknown.

So couple all that with the basic damage formula:

        Your Weapon Damage * {(Your attack / Enemy's Defense) *
        [(Your attack / Enemy's Defense) * (Your attack / Enemy's Defense)] + random(-.5...+.5)}

it's turning into quite a mess to sort out with people believing what they want to.

though personally I think it doesn't matter what eq to use.

Because according to the melee damage formula, if you have a much weaker lv capped broth, boosting it's str by +45 or something like that should increase the damage potential alot but even the origional idea people could not replicate this.

Also neither smn nor drg pets have any ability to boost their pets by altering their stats like str/dex/vit. It seems kind of silly that bst can do this all of a sudden. Maybe the AF 2 gloves will do something different but who knows. Only things I know for fact alter pets are the equipment that says specifically they do like smn AF pants or drg AF armor/JSE/ wyrven perch.

As a fun side note, a drg was doing escort with me the other day and happened to swap out equipment after getting the NPC.

he swapped into wyrven + HP equipment and lo and behold, Olivia the NPC gained the HP bonus as well.
