  • Nice Day to be a BST

Whats your most prideful day to be a BST?

Mines came yesterday! It started off pretty bad but wow it ended nice. I logged in yesterday in the ever-packed Korroloka Tunnel and died 3 times in a row off of just pure bad luck, mistimed uncharms and plain ol' links ><. Anyway I finally got my grove back regained my 1.5k I lost and continued pushing my way up the hill to lvl 29!! Happy that I made it I went back to bastok and checked to see if I can get new gear. Didnt see anything that interested me enough to buy so I ran back down to korroloka and began killing some more mobs. Got enough Xp so if I died I was safe from de-leveling, and rested for awhile. Thats when it happened. Saw a Drk just running and collapse about a good distance from me. I was like wtf, then I saw what did it..... A Sea Monk right behind him. Conned VT. Tarus running everywhere no high lvler in sight, so I figured nows a good time than ever to test my Bst skills. So I looked around for a good pet vs anmorph. I just grabbed the nearest EM+Bat, since that was the only thing close, the bat got wasted quick as I thought it would. Thats when I thought maybe I was a little over my head here, so quickly without panic looked around again and found a T+ Leech and managed to charm np I 2hred it after that to prevent mischarm. Sent it after the beast after retreating a little. It was doing pretty good for awhile until the Sea Monk did his TP attack whick took away massive life from my leech I was like damn! At this point I was not even worried about getting XP just surviving. So I said F'it. Equiped some Zeta Biscuits, healed the leech back to half health and jumped in with the leech. Hacking away for nearly 10min with a small crowd building it was intense. Took both me and the leech down to near death until it finally died. Gained 110 XP with a T++ pet felt pretty good! Not to mention the claps

Well, you're a level higher than me then... After starting the night with 2 deaths at the hands of Huge Spiders, I went back to Qufim with my tail between my legs and got 1k exp into 28. I was nervous of what to fight in Korroloka, and where to go, so I changed to my RDM first and explored the area a bit. Once I realized it was pointless to go to the clipper room (clippers here lvl 29-32, pugils 30-32 and aggro) I settled on the main pathway where all the spiders spawn, along with Jellies, Bats, and Leeches. My first death was a bad, bad, bad decision to cast dia on a spider to pull it, knowing full well there was a chance a nearby one could link. I sent my pet after one, but the other one owned me.

Second death, I simply gained too much hate, and a spider chipped away at my HP, then finished me off with a double attack...

Also, I got a first tonight, some noob in Qufim did a /slap emote to me as I sent my crab against a Pugil near their PT. Normally I would brush it off, but I was in a "confrontational" mood, so I sent them a /tell "Problem?" They responded with "no, except the fact that I hate BST" which started a short exchange of insults, where I eventually took the high road and ignored them. I was VERY tempted to just go after every crab I could find to piss them off, but I decided I would be wasting my own time.

Bottom line, bad night. Not much progress, and now I'm afraid of Korroloka. This sucks because I'm sure I will need to spend lvl 29-31 there. Theres just so much to worry about there. You have to carefully calculate every move you make. If you charm bat, you have to watch for it becoming uncharmed because there are bats everywhere. If you go after spiders, you have to be very careful of links, but there are also Jellies, and Giants to worry about aggroing. On top of all this, some moronic chinese gil farmers were killing the jellies, probably thinking they drop something good, and thus taking away my most powerful pets. /sigh

I'm going to stick out level 28 in Qufim, then re-try Korroloka at 29... that's the recommended level to go there anyway.

BTW I had a similar "save all pt from tough mob" experience when a Dancing weapon came into the cave entrance area and no one could kill it. I sent 2-3 pets after it, and eventually killed it with like 40hp left and pet had about the same. Some WHM near by gave me a cure towards the end of the fight and I said {thank you} but the WHM said "No, thank you" because I essentially saved their pt from decimation, and risked my life to do it. Makes you proud ^^

It takes awhile to get used to korroloka, I just camp by the little slope leading down to the main room and pull everything back there with my pet. It can be difficult but you just gotta get a good groove going, once you get the hang of it and start using jellys alot XP rolls in fast. Usually if you run far enough in you can find a jelly wandering around, charm might take awhile so charm and immediately run towards the exit while constantly recharming until you snag it. jellys are slow so u most likely wont take any dmg on the way back. Go back down the little hill wait till the spiders seperate, send pet to fight, then immediately heel it back up the hill to prevent links. Jump in when the Spiders are at half health any earlier and you risk eating Sickle Slash ><. Depending on what con the jelly was you might want to either hurry and find another spider or kill it off. EMs uncharm after 1 fight and halfway in another, DC's can last at least 2. But you have to give korro a chance I dont even go to the clipper room yet cause clippers take toooo long to die and I cant chain em, i can chain bats and spiders easy.

            Good job!!

Theres been lotsa situations like that Ive had and saved many people from. Usually i dont even get a thanks from most people. Ive had more personal adventures where crazy links/aggro but i survived and won with exp that happens quite often.

have to say that I loved lvling 28-32 at Korroloka-
Once you work out where to lvl and at what lvl- it rocks.

28 and 29 ends of the main tunnel
              30 up and down it
30-32 crab room, spider tunnel, and the leech/crab tunnel (alternate exit out of Korroloka)
Great areas for honing BST skills- reason I say this is that at any of those lvls you can take on Gigas or Scorps, or the NM's.
All require multiple pets (some require 10+), great fun, with good drops.

But when things go wrong- they really go wrong. Think I died 4 times in 2 hours once.
Certainly would not recommend lvling there on darksday.

Sometimes I think the game cheats when youre a BST.

Let me set up last nights senario.

I logged in and was in Korroloka Tunel. I immediately went to work, and things were going great... I mean GREAT. Got chain #3 on my first string of kills, and I had 500 exp in 15 mins. So I'm going along, everything smooth when I sick my half dead spider on a Combat near the worm part of tunnel (near entrance) for safety. My bad that I forgot to heal up before sending it after bat, but I had 140hp left so I figured i was ok, and I didnt want to risk getting hate by curing myself after my pet attacked. As my pet spider dies, I immediately charm another and send it after the combat. I know I'm going to usually take a hit when doing a pet swap... I know this, and I figure 140hp is more than enough to cover it. So the Combat criticals me for 73 dmg. Ouch... but not a huge deal since my spider will get hate any second. Bam, double hit 43+36.... Dead. Spider took too long to attack. Not only that, but the bat did over 140 dmg in 2 attack turns to me. Not fair.

Anyway, I went back in and leveled a bit more with no incidents, so I'm 3000/5700. I stopped leveling to go explore COP areas with a friend but I will get back to it tonight.

Note to self: CURE yourself before you engage an enemy. Sucks to be sitting on a full MP pool, face down in the dirt.

                  Ouch Gman....Ouch

I know those bats hate me so I stopped messing with em after I learned they purposely save "Jet Stream" till after my pet dies and use it on me alone after a nice critical double attack ><
Damn regular seeker bats are tougher than combats at times

Ya, jetstream is a bitch... caused me much grief over my BST career so far. I was fighting single bat though (combat) which has WAR style double-attack. Just wish it didnt kick in so frequently on my fragile Taru ass. My melee equips are good too, not like I'm gimp or anything...

All chain gear except RSE hands and feet which gives a lot more HP and only lose 1-2 def points. Nomad mantle, Lantern Shield, etc... I think I have 150-200k worth of equips on my BST lol.

                    Oh well...

finally got to 35 yesterday, after taking half a day off work to get there. Last 200 xp took me 30 mins to get, and I had to get it off DC after wandering around the desert for 20 mins looking for something to attack LOL.

And it is worth waiting for.

Keep it up all those not there yet....its the light at the end of the tunnel.
