  • Question about charm gear (+CHR)

A BST in my linkshell was telling me that the charm will wear off faster if I don't stay in my +CHR gear. Is this true? Right now, when leveling BST I have certain gear attached to macros. For example, When I go to charm, macro equips BST whistle, Hope ring, Hope ring, and Nobles ribbon for a +9 boost to CHR. I RARELY fail a charm using this. However, if I heal myself or use paralyze or slow, my macro equips 2xsaintly rings, and Justice Badge. Then I have a macro simply entitled "Melee" which equips Iron Mask, 2xBalance rings, and Spike Necklace.

If i change gear once a mob is already charmed, will it affect the length of time it stays charmed? God I hope not :p

    Thanks.

That was gonna be my experiment tonight, I noticed that when I equip my Monster Signa, Nobles Ribbon, Hope Rings, and other Chr boost for +18 I can charm almost anything. The problem comes when I switch to my other gear early and rest while the pet is battleing, EMs get uncharmed quicker than usual. If I kept my +Chr gear on I can usually last 1 and a half full battles with a rest inbetween until it's uncharmed. But with Attk gear on, it's more like 3/4 battle if I rest beforehand or 1 full battle then recharm with no rest.

Thats weird that you've noticed that, because I havent. Even Match usually stays charmed long enough for 2 battles for me, and most of the time I'm not in my CHR gear. I only use it for the initial charm, then change to melee gear to help pet fight, then cure gear to get max heals. I guess if I was just to let my pet fight on its own, it would probably become uncharmed due to a longer battle if I wasnt helping. I've only ever had an EM uncharm during the first battle once, and it was a Thread leech against a Gob leecher that cure 3'ed itself when it was near death.

Only thing that effects charm duration is +Charm which is found on your AF,JSE and that lv39 Axe.
Anything other than that is probably your own paranoia :p
+CHR affect success rate use gauge be surprised ^_~

you know I'm not exactly sure what +charm gear does anymore

We all know that light staff helps ALOT

We know that chr helps also

+ charm gear seems to be worthless for success because of gague for the most part

Using gague on jelly says might be able to charm with light staff equipped

using karakban's axe on the same slime it says should be able to charm

Now that just doesn't make much sense to me. It would seem that gague only compares chr of the pet to me in my hypothesis thus

+charm and +light effects are not factored into the gague command at all.

I think they do help but it can also be just bad/good luck. Or just random circumstance.

Duration is noticably longer with the +charm gear that I can agree with.

But the whole charm is useless for charm success thing I still don't completely buy into.
