I hate being repetitive and basically posting on how my lvling is going but I've noticed a few things that I found strange. Lvl 27 1/2 now still no set place to lvl until 28 I guess, qufim is ok, A T++ wight with the sickle is crazy easy to beat with even a decent challenge bat or crab chained these like mad last night. Weapons are ok to grab except they hang out to close to each other sometimes. Lower Delkfutts Tower is nice until a pt comes along and dont have respect for your space. But to the point, Does uncharmed pets sometimes just go back to their destination instead of attacking you? Happend to me couple times since lvl 10 I noticed this, sometimes I go extemely far from the battle when its going sour and I hang back waiting for the train then zone or just hang back and watch it uncharm and just sit there, noticibly more if something else aggros me and I engage..? hmm just wanted to see if its happend to anyone else.

1) Yes, I couldnt believe how strong bats are against wights. I had a DC bat with about 1/4 health and sicked it on a wight. When it died (wight had about 50% health) I grabbed another DC Dark bats and finished the wight off. I think an advangate bats have is drain is very useless against them. Blood sabre is effectively nullified against bats. I didn't try crabs but I think I might.
At level 26 in Qufim last night, I found crabs to be either DC, EM, Tough with low evasion, high defence (lvl 27) or Tough high defence (28-29) The 28-29 crabs put up a big fight and were hard to kill as they often hit for 35-40 on myself and my pet. So when I leveled to 27, the Tough low evasion crabs became EM, but all the rest are now Tough high defence. Where did all the lvl 28 crabs go? Anything higher than me conns as Tough high defence, which makes it impossible to know if you are picking a fight with a lvl 28 or 29 crab Anyway, I'm 2100/5500 tnl so I'll get 28 tonight for sure.
2) Yes, sometimesw you can lose aggro. I was fighting an EM crab with a DC crab at the tunnel entrance when someone pulls a Giant. Whoever had aggro must have died and the Giant came back toward me. Before I know it, wack, I he nailed. I immediately start running down the tunnel, and when I get to the area where 2 weapons often spawn, I looked back and it wasnt following me. Also, I noticed my pet had died, but the crab i was fighting wasnt chasing me either. I ran up the tunnel a ways to find my crab making its way back. I think if you go far enough from battle for long enough time, you lose aggro.
This happens all the time in Yuhtunga Jungle. Pull a mandragora, long run back to camp, just before you arrive, it turns white and someone steals it because it started going back to its spawn point. Very frustrating.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

Yes Gman we're equaled in lvl now!! But yeah I share your crab problem, at lvl 26 there was soooo much toughs around so I thougt when i hit 27 it would be perfect. Nope. All those toughs became decent challenges, totally skipped EM. Now there's the ever rare EM's, Tough++ wandering around, and plenty of DCs that stand no chance on a Tough unless its a blm wight or Tough Worm. Strange. Ancient bats are strange I cant tell if they aggro to sound. Because I walked right up to one and ran by once and no aggro next time I'm just standing there and one aggros me!! Also why are seeker bats in lower delfutts tower sound aggressive when seeker bats in cave to qufim same lvl non-sound aggro??? Confusing! Gobs in tower are very easy too, Bats eat em up. Just fight em when they spread out in that room and heel it out and have em fight in the hallway.BST 53, Rng 55, War 37, Drg 43, Nin 18, Thf 17, Whm 27, Blm 15.....

Bats make great pets and really tear bones apart. Jet Stream is just so much fun ^^ You'll find certain animals really eat up other mobs in the food chain really well and learn to use em. My Dark aspes (Slimes) really tear apart the bats in the zone under the Chateau in Sandy atm for me.58 BST / 62 RDM / 31 WHM / 31 BLM / 7 DRG / 4 NIN / 7 SAM / 10 RNG (Rank 5) Bahamut

Seeker bats in tower aggro sound, as do ancient bats. From my experience playing this game, sound aggro mobs will aggo you even when youre not moving (if thats what you meant by your question) Not sure what they hear... maybe your breathing?
Because of the crab levels in Qufim now, 27-28 will take some time. The highest worm is Tough, but there arent many around. Now that I am aware of how wights can be owned by bats, I will actually look forward to night time ^^
Beastlord, did you notice how fast leveling is now compared to 15-20? If I dont die, I can level in a few hours, and I need a lot more exp to do so than I did in the teens. Tame at level 30 will be nice, but ultimately, every BST's goal is lvl 35, which I can taste more and more now.
Also, not sure about you but I upgraded to Frost Reaper Scythe at 27... uh, big mistake lol. This little Taru is hitting worms for 50+ dmg, critical for 100... hard for my pet to keep hate now ; ; I will switch to Axe as soon as Scythe caps. I have been conflicted over which axe to use. Tomahawk seems nice, but 340 delay is alot for 23 damage. I ended up choosing Rusty pick which was cheap, and has 22 dmg, 312 delay. I will upgrade when I get higher level. I really wanted tiger killer(?), but it must be NM drop because its selling for 30-35k. No matter what axe I choose, I feel I still have enough attack power because of the Lantern Shield (+5 Att) So I can skimp on an uber axe till lvl 30.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

Yes my friend, it has gotten alot easier since the teen era, Once you've learned to manage hate and when to jump in it gets alot easier. I've actually in my own mind think I've mastered the pet life management vs enemy life . But I managed to get 28 last night and FINALLY things in korroloka never looked so sweet. EP Jellys all over, Tough Spiders galore, EM-T Combats, and the ever-elusive Morion Worm NM which I always miss by a few seconds to the same thf that camps both the spider NM and the worm. I'm gonna eventually figure out the spawn places and time lol. But I never used the Sythe  I'm regretting it now, so I'm trying to lvl it up, but cant find no enemys with low dmg to lvl it up on. I been using the Tomahawk+1 for the longest, its'a sweet looking axe, I been waiting for the military pick to show up but it never has. Oh well 3k to lvl 29. So much closer to 35!!!!BST 53, Rng 55, War 37, Drg 43, Nin 18, Thf 17, Whm 27, Blm 15.....

Scythe is definately good to have leveled up. Sometimes Axe just cant deliver those 1-2 good hits to finish a mob off if you dont have TP.
I got to 28 last night, but not before dying 2 times... argh! My luck is awful.
I was going to stay in Qufim for 28, but maybe I'll try Korroloka. Where do you recommend leveling there? I heard the room with the clippers and pugils is good. Sometimes theres a jelly spawn that you can use. Is this the recommended area for this level? Also, what aggro mobs will I have to worry about? I'm pretty sure spiders here aggro, and I know Jellies, Gigas, and worms do.
Too bad we werent on the same server, we could duo, since we seem to be going at the same pace.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

Yeh I wish we were on the same server. I've been in korroloka tunnel for most of 28, charm ep jellys or dc-em leeches and breeze through some spiders or Combats. 28 is fast XP. I'm 1k from 29 already and I only played 1hr last night and a 2hrs for lunch today. Dont be afraid of that place, the only thing that aggros are the jellys, gigas, and greater pugils. Everything of the same species pretty much link if you have a mischarm so be careful.
Recommendation- I found a EM jelly 2hred it and left a trail of Spiders and Combats. Feeding it Zeta Biscuits inbetween battles and letting it fight 2 worms or 2 seekers at a time while I rested for easy XP and items. You'll learn to love these damn jellys. They can easily take on 2 mobs of decent to easy challengeBST 53, Rng 55, War 37, Drg 43, Nin 18, Thf 17, Whm 27, Blm 15.....

Can an EP jelly take on tough mobs without my help, or will it die? I'm thinking its defence would be enough, but it might have trouble hitting the tough mob for damage.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner
