Just as things were begining to slow down at lvl 20-21, I stumbled upon a neato little trick that helped me lvl 2 lvls last night in Valkrum Dunes!!! Well I recommend at least trying it. Before lvl 20 all I was doing was letting my pet die and taking over, I was not using BST to its full potential at all I.E. Reward and Familiar. I never touched them until recently and Its helped so much. Well lemme get to the point. I went to Valkrum Dunes looking for Charmable pets in between dodging gobbies. After awhile I stumbled upon a EM Thread Leech!! I was kinda happy and kinda hesitant since I knew if it became uncharmed next to some other leeches I was basically screwd, but I said f'it and Charmed my new best friend in the Dunes. I used Familiar to save me from uncharmed for at least 1/2 hr and went to the Valkrum Emporer Spot and Chained Crabs, Gobs, and Flys. So basically I was gaining XP and camping Valk. Emp at the Same time. But heres the Sweet part. After 1 lvl and familiar ran out and my pet got uncharmed I tried to charm it back and it failed so I ran down to the beach by the water looking for crabs to kill it when suddenly it stopped attacking me! Hmmmm, it was hopping back and gaining HP at a massive rate!! So I thought about it for a second and figured out that these leeches must be scent-aggressive so going in water causes them to lose track of you. Therefore the water is like a close zone! So I was basically charming the same leech fighting tough gobs and flys, Zeta or Delta Buscuits when the going gets tough and water zone when leech life is low and it gets uncharmed! Worked extremely well, I gain about 10k Xp last night. Effortlessly

Yeh I first noticed this in Boyanda Tree while pulling Knight Crawlers, I'd pull em and there was water between me and my pt so everytime I pulled they'd laugh at me and say "quit losing aggro" ya fast bastard, and it didnt make sense to me that it would just lose aggro like that. So after awhile we finally realized Square-Enix added some logic in aggression. All I know is Water works for scent aggro, I'll figure the rest out one day.
Another thing is if you're already in water and you catch aggression from a scent detector type, you can't run through the water and lose it for some reason, you'll actually have to zone or run to another body of water you can stand it or walk throughBST 53, Rng 55, War 37, Drg 43, Nin 18, Thf 17, Whm 27, Blm 15.....

Sounds cool... wish I had known about that trick at level 21-22. Actually, there were a few times at the hidden beach in Valkurm that my leech came uncharmed and I went into the water by the Giant Bat cave and it just stopped. Unfortunately I didn't clue in as to why it stopped chasing me, and I still wouldnt have figured it out had you not mentioned it. This is good to know anyway.
So just to be clear, if you aggro a leech, it will follow you into water, but a charmed pet will not? Don't want to get this wrong and get myself killed.
PS. Since you are actually under my level, I'll give you a tip for level 25. This is best for level 25, maybe 24 as well. At 26 you pretty much have to move on because the monsters become Even match or lower. Anyway, in Ordelles caves, head left from entrance, and follow path till you get to big room with goblin muggers, leechers, etc. Use a prism powder, and avoid Hognosed Bats (only a few of them around). Youll notice on the map a small path that goes south and disappears, take it. There are bats on stairwell, so charm one and kill others with it, or simply use silent oil. Go up stairs to top and you are in area where there are 4 small rooms, the ones to the south have holes to drop to areas with Molboros and Gob Smithys, etc. Don't drop down, just stay in this area. There will be mostly Vorpal Bunies and Dung Beetles. They are level 23-26, dont aggro, but do link. In the southwest room, there are 2 jellies. Avoid these. In the southeast room, there are 2 seeker bats. I just use the weaker one against the stronger one for good exp.
I made 5k exp in under 3 hours just running back and forth sicking bunnies on beetles, with no aggro. It's so refreshing to level in a place where you dont have to worry about aggro at all. There were tons of mobs, so by the time you ran out, it was time to rest anyway. At 25, I never had to wait for spawns. I'm off to Qufim now, but I cant recommend this area enough for Level 25. Good luck. Also, no competition at all.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner
