  • Ummm... mischarm rate . . .

I'm 33 and have had 10 mischarms today, I have died 13 times, and have gained 0 exp in 5 hours. I am hume and have +20chr, I can't get anymore, and all the mischarms but 1 were on DC/EM mobs. Has this happened to anyone else? This is really frustrating.

I can't PT in altepa because of spider farmers so when I have 0 pets, some rdm got really mad at me when he was mass farming and I stole a spider off him so i could live.

There are 2 dc/em pets in gusgen so it isn't that great, I tried using those dc funguar things, but a single bomb went through 4 of them, then I had a mischarm on the 5th. . .

    Any ideas?

Mischarms are so random, you can't even begin to form any sort of conclusion.

A few days back, I had about 13 mischarms in Terrigan. Sometimes I would go for a few hours without mischarms, othertimes I would fail in the most critical circumstance. So if you failed 10 times, its ok, take a break, xp tomorrow. Makes things all better.

Some mobs are charm resistant. Mainly jellies, opo-opo, and several others.

As for the spider farming, try and use widescan, to keep track of a future pet.

Is your equipment swapping macro part of your charm macro?

          Was just a thought.

Failing charm does seem to be pretty random but I'm a Mithra with.. hmm maybe CHR+11 and I don't fail like that.

I almost never fail a second try to charm unless it's on a Jelly, etc. Missing more than 3 in a row.. I think it happened to me some at level 10.

Did you recently pee in someones cerial or kiss a girl and not call her? Sounds more like bad luck / karma to me

Go craft some easy stuff like orange juice and give it away to noobs next time you have a day like this. It's fun and your charms will work better

I finally made 34, and only had one mischarm. I don't know what wis up with that. I think one issue is that I think there is a delay between equipment effects and swapping. So I wait a little bit to charm my pet now after the equipment is swapped.

              :: charm macro ::

              /equip ....
              /ja "Charm" <stnpc>

Died twice in gusgen so far, at least I have pets to work with. One time was a misscharm on a fly = fafnir style darter death. Second death was because I thought a bomb was doing beserk, but it was doing . . . w

I keep my equipment change macros separate from my charm macro.

But that's sort of because I actually have 2 macros for a full eq change. ;x

Rare, but if I notice several mischarms in a row (within say 30 minutes) I type "/clock" and try to make a mental note of the day.

The following may be random, but it makes me feel better.

                  - Darkday is often a bad day for charms.

                  - Lightening day isn't that great either (I hate that day. Everything sucks on that day. Maybe something from my childhood. Don't know)

                  - If it's the "Day of the Week" for your favorite pet, you may want to pick a new pet that day. (IE the same element of that mob's special seems to be a way to align mobs with a day)

Again. it may be random, but it seems to help.

Things you can do about a bad streak

                  - change zones to a more charm- friendly pet

                  - camp near a zone (unless your pet is aggro and PTs are around)

                  - don't risk a close charm when you are about to ding, I think the game is coded to make "uber hard to charm pets" pop near you when you are 100 tnl and playing BST

                  - logout for 1 hour, come back, hope the vodo works better

May not help, but it's what I think about the whole thing.
