  • Okay I need a few things to learn as BST

Well I was going to level BST to 12-22 normally.... but some members of GO(or a member of GO's stpt) asked me to join their pwlvl party. Got all the way to 22 in one day. Was cool because I met some high level and nice people. Anyway, I don't know jack shiat about a lot of things about BST. I am going to have a STduo at level 25(all the way to 35).

PLEASE! I need to learn the ways of the BST, or I am going piss off my friend. I have some questions...

    1. Involving Jug pets... how often should I use them, when/where, and what against what?

    2. The whole release thing... do I got it right? You have three monsters next to each other. You charm #1, you kill #2 but use release before you do, you recharm #1, and you kill #3 while #1 dies mid battle. Right? Please explain if not.

    3. What will the duo be fighting and how should we fight. Like a normal BST pre-35 simply easier?

    4. How is a BST duo done once 35+?

    5. Anything else I should have learned on my way to 22, that I didn't learn going 1-12?

(Yes I missed the hardest levels of BST, feel free to flame me... I some how feel bad I didn't get to feel the pain myself)

    1) Jug pets cut into your exp. So, if you're willing to lose 30% of your exp on EVERY monster, go nuts. Otherwise, only use them in emergencies with links and such.

    2) I use release when my mob is down to a shred of life. When it is, I release (run away if my pet willl link or aggro), then attack the mob with a couple of hits.

Your method is fine if you are taking on harder mobs. For me, I'm only using decent/even pets vs even/tough mobs.

    3 & 4) Ah, no comment >.>

    5) Charm length on toughs lasts around 30 seconds. Evens, about a couple of minutes, decents last many more minutes, etc. Uh....

As I understand it, you never want your pet to die once you get Release (Leave). You always release once it or the target is down to a sliver of life, and then charm another pet if necessary, so your first pet can regenerate.

Of course, I'm only 27, so I don't have any practical experience yet.

one more thing, how often will I use my pet food?

should I ever use one/both of the following tactics?
-Charm a VT and use 2hr. Use pet food a lot.
-As a Tarutaru BST/WHM, meleeing when the mob is at half.

(and thanks so far for most of the questions answered, I really hope someone can answer my duoing questions tho).

Use pet food when you need to keep your current pet alive. That means that you can't find another pet to charm, or your mob will link with other monsters in the area (when you are looking for another pet) or when you're too lazy to find another pet.

But the cooldown for Reward is 2 minutes? And I think i'm using the beta food. Only cures for 70hp. So, that's about 2 more hits my pet can absorb.

Charming a T,VT,IT (and keeping it alive while you kill monsters) will cut your exp like CRAZY. Imagine you are a lvl.25 BST, and you are basically PTing with a lvl.30 moron. He's killing your exp, and he'll leave your PT in 30 minutes. =P

Melee when your mob when it's half life is good enough. As long as you have barely any hate, it's good to get some free TP and some free damage. Higher level, it gets easier since your pet will keep hate.
