  • Farming Choices L70+

Hm so you've finally got a Beastmaster over 70. We are the farming/solo class of choice for harder mobs. Where would YOU farm. Hoping everyone can contribute :D

    I'll start off:

5 Hakutaku Eyes farming. Only BST can do this solo especially the Million Eyes down in Rancor of Den. Eyes vary from 50,000 a shot to 100,000 if the buyer is desperate. Downside is that it's a little difficult to sell off because you can only sell by Bazaar.

    5 Eyes:
Sea Serpent Grotto (2 here, Mindgazer and Blubber Eyes)
    Ifrit's Cauldron (Dodomeki)
    Den of Rancor (Million Eyes)
    King Ramp's Tomb (Thousand Eyes)
    BST 75 (Active) | BRD 75 (Active)
    DRG 63 (Retired) | BLM 55 (Semi)
    WHM 37 (Support) | NIN 37 (Support)

You can start h.eye farming early in the mid 60's by farming the eyes in King Ronpierre Tomb. By playing the pets on each other (pull one out with a broth pet, release broth and charm the eye, send that eye against the group, when that eye is nearly dead release and charm another eye, attack the previous eye and engage (After pet first hits) to kill that weakened eye that will die fast. Send your still living pet in till it's nearly dead and repeat. Spawn time is fast enough that you can keep this up indefinately. You can pair with most other classes to help you survive a misscharm.

Lv73+ you can farm ru-an for coffers (15-20k each), farm angel skin in ifrits near hurricane wyverns using lizards as pets or farming lizards for terasque nm pop.

We're really limited to where high level pets are. Mostly they congrigate in ifrit's caldrun, ru-an gardens, boyhada tree, den of rancor, sea searpent grotto, onzozo, ect.

You can also look at this another way, by 70+ your broth pets will be incredibly strong. Go /nin and to fei'yin and farm the shadow nm's and keys, you can do this faster than any other class in the game. Can also go to Castle Zvhal and do the same thing. Farm spider webs in boyahda tree by taking down a steelshell or skimmer from upstairs, solo key droppers in castle oz., take back a torma and kill all of onzozo for cockatrice and scorps, using broths against tonberry nm's in uggaleph, ect.

How well do skimmers/darters and steelshells fare against Aquarius? I know for a fact that using bark spiders, murioche, death caps and rabbits on the 1st floor is an utter waste of time, and imminent death.

I remember hearing that 2 skimmers will be enough to take down aquarius. Someone also said that a skingle skimmer using bst 2hr ability can kill aquarius but I have not tired this personally.

You guys think coffer key hunting is faster or getting drops to sell being faster?

And would parking oneself in the alchemy guild in bastok faciliate sales of the eyes or would port jeuno be a better option?

(lower jeuno has too many people, and hard for grafix card to draw everyone)

why we want to sub nin for fei'yin shadows? is it cause of high damage output by dual wield? I'm not sure I follow. Wouldn't /thf help more?

when I get up to lv 70's I'm going to farm myself up some kraken clubs. Hopefully they would address that "change to yellow 'feature' " during pet swaps that's plauging kill stealing from bst's in a near future patch. It's a long way to 70 for me so maybe they'll have it, who knows.

by the way, is there any point in going bst/nin
and use a juggernaut + kraken club on super HNM fights? would the club do zero damage thus not giving me TP?

or is all that +attack stuff that stephen's got me drooling over going to be enough to let it do at least 1 damage so I can go in and be a TP machine?

bst/nin in fei'yin to avoid the shadow nm's dimentional death attacks.

Ru'Aun gardens is a gold mine, even for xping. From lv 72-74 I got about 300k or so from just drops. Very good place to always go back to with signet on. On my server light crystal stacks sell for 7k. I can get a stack in about 25-30min. Pretty fast.

About the Aquarius question. Aqua is still tough. I dragged Aqua to the top pond where Steelshells, Skimmers, and Korrigans were. 4 Korrigans > Aquarius ^^ Skimmers have nice def, low hp tho and low attack. Steelshells are nice.

                    heh

i have killed the crab many times. only pets i have used were mandys and rabbits lol and the occasionaly robber or knight crawler.

takes me awhile but i get it done. i havent died once against Aqua, and only have had one KS and it was by a JP 75BST!! lol isnt that ironic?

Anyways i cant wait until i can use some better pets on the crab hehe

                      feiyin nms

so for a 71 bst, the shadow NMs at Feiyin are safely soloable ?
i never tried coz i was worried after camping for such a long time and it pops, i can't kill it. Perhaps more specifically, Eastern Shadow.

oh...after the patch i still have a easy time with them as 74/37. just, have the pet tank (CourrierCarrie) and run out of distance when it uses a ga. other then that, your fine.
