So here I am, in Ru'Aun Gardens for the first time. I'm thinking ok, this looks beautiful, there's nice camps of Flamingos (Bird) and Sprinklers (Pots). The beauty of it is, nothing agros besides Groundskeepers (in blue portals) and nothing links (Not even the birds).

    But here's the scary part:
I died 3 times in the space of an hour. How did that happen?

Basically, the 2 Pet strategy will not work in Ru'Aun Gardens unless I'm missing something extreme. I have +41 CHR at the moment including the Opo-Opo Crown and I can COUNT on Charm failing 50+% of the time.

Maybe I just had a bad day or something but for that straight hour, I would have 3-4 charms failing in a row. I've *never* in my Level 1-72 solo career had that many charm fails consecutively. This wasn't just 3-4 charms failing for 1 mob, it's 3-4 charms failing almost *every* mob. Weird?

Anyone else have this much trouble 70+? I think I remember hearing something about +CHR only reducing the rate of Charm Failure and every few levels, the innate Charm Failure rate on pets go up. It's probably at something like 60% at the moment and CHR brings it down to around 50% >.<

    Very painful :|

Must be erroneous. I can't see it being that bad all the time. How could it be? That sounds too detrimental to the class as a whole. How are you supposed to function? O_o

I am not there yet so I can't offer anything else. Hope it was just a one off. ;x

the gardens works wonders for me and bb, but you need a crap load of CHR from what i have seen. BB has about 20 less CHR than me and he said he had to burn some cash on more CHR to not die. I have 112 CHR and charm just fine. I get fail charms once every 30 min or so. Yet, I have seen BB fail charm more than once in a shorter span of time. If he was soloing the dolls it would be a bad thing since those things hit for 200+ a pop on poor little tarus, lol. Yet, I love the gardens. If I solo in the right spots where there are 2-3 EM birds I can get 3-4k an hr or so. Yet that damn music is soo soothing it slows me down, must play iTunes in the background ><

Light staff is your friend in Ru'Aun Gardens. I charmed Flamingos last night for about 2 hours, only 2 miss charms. (Lv72 BST)

Besides, Bird vs Bird, you don't really need 2 pets to kill...

Use a light staff and you can level there from 71. I don't swap pets though; I go all out from the beginning hitting alongside the pet though. The tougher mobs can be _extremely_ close, so I found it necessary to use petfood pretty much all the time.

The EXP won't be absolutely amazing, but it'll be pretty darn good even compared to ifrit's.

buy one and try harder-to-charm mobs for yourself. I'm charming flamingos with very low failure rates (i'd say i fail 1 in 6, 7 charms) at lv71 with mostly NQ CHR+ equipment (CHR+21 or so I believe) and a light staff. It was so stable that I could swap pets around to take on VT pots without too much problem.

Made level 73 here pretty quickly. Bought a light staff, I fail 1/20 charms now. Everything's peachy, and I'm a happy BST :D

I can agree with the light staff. However it still doesn't seem to help on the resist-charm monsters. Tried it on a raptor near valley of sorrows zone. Still only about 40% success charm rate on them with or without the light staff.

Something is really weird about that light staff.

The difference between using that and signa to charm Flamingos is absolutely shocking. I kid you not.

I can charm tough flamingos with this light staff like they were even matches. It's amazing. And this is with -7 chr (+8 signa, +1 light staff). It's very stable indeed.

Now.. what I don't know is how effective this light staff is elsewhere. Why is it so effective here I wonder.

This is because it doesn't *seem* to be giving this 'feel' in normal areas, as far as I can tell after talking with others.
