Lvl40+ melee equipment, please advices ^^

Hi,

I was looking through AH last night, wanting to update my equipment, but i'm so much not sure what to buy.
I'm Mythra BST. In what order should i buy stuff, accuracy > Defense > attack ?

Well 1st and easy question, i should buy Balance shield (9DEF, +3acc) over the Strike Shield (6 DEF, +6attack) ? still same choice at lvl 45 when the Viking Shield is available (8DEF, +12attack) ?

Rings : Go with 2 snipper rings ? if so, -20 DEF, that can hurt badly, but then i can buy armor with good stats even if few defense. If no Snipper rings, just go with +DEX rings ?

Earrings : what cool is available ? right now i go with the +1def +4MP earrings

Armor : How you choose your armor ? max Defense with some cool stats on it ?

Just focus on 1 stat throughout. That way you cant gimp yourself, unless ure going for all VIT as a BST or something silly

You should focus on CHR as a BST, controll of heavy enemy's is easy that way.Also as a BST sniperrings are not a great idea.Other then that just stick with the normal DRK WAR & PLD armor's wich provide a good Defence.So good luck and have fun.

I agree, go all CHR gear throughout the 40's... Where you can't get CHR just go for Accuracy... Just buy the best armour with the highest defence...(if it has stat bonuses to it that's a bonus...)

I think the thread is all about melee equipment, I'm pretty sure we all know chr

I personally hate fighting with my +20 chr stuff on.... Equipment change macros have been in use for the last 30 lv's or so.

As taru, I use mix of +accuracy and HP /str. My vit sucks anyway so I've decided that I'll just heal afterwards with MP.

I've noticed that I tend to like accuracy more than str or attack.
Go with the balanced buckler at the 40's. If you can afford a viking shield You can probably go with that since you are a mithra and can hit well anyway.

at lv 48, I got a life belt and it seems to help a lot. The enemies evasions doesn't seem to get ramped up significantly till lv 48 or maybe just the stuff I was fighting. Gob Robbers have been extra hard for me to hit so all the accuracty helps.

I like the dex rings cause for 1, I already had them. IF I had unlimited money, I'd go with dex rings till lv 48 life belt and switch over to str rings. At this point, it's actually hard for me to take agro from my pets depending on what we're fighting.

It'd help alot more to dress for the occasion. I noticed that when I did goblin's pets, I almost never melee with my pet and often leave the pet to kill it off for me since pets cannot hold agro vs something IT to them very well at all. In these cases I had +HP/+MP on my wishlist since I often had to keep up blink and regen and to tank the odd hit or so.

Tell me what you are fighting so it'd be easier to decide what to actually recommend.

As for the shields if you are planing on getting the Strike Shield (atk+6) id prolly wait for Viking Shield (atk +12) it'd be cheaper that way.

Not much to choose from :O



And i wont go over rings and earrings, since those you should think if you wanna work on what you lack or emphasize what you are good at :O

Equipment switch macros are your friends /ok sadly i dont remember what the tag is ; ;

It all comes down to... you DO need a set of equipment for CHR, but for those moments you have to melee you gotta think about if you wanna lessen your weaknessess or increase your strenght....

Like being mithra you want more dex, or more str? :confused:
