  • lv 32 slowness help!

This is a truely frustrating level. Pretty much everything in korella tunnel is decent challenge now. The odd EM crab or DC pugli is very very slow in respawns. Qufim is over camped. Altepa has all IT enemies and only DC spiders.

I haven't tried the maze near bubupuimu peninsula side yet but the lving guides said it was slow there too.

This totally feels like a hump level. What should I do? Exp was like 1.5- 1.8 k per hr at 31 and now it's down to 1k per hr or less at 32. Getting really frustrated with decent challenges.

Anyone got any advice for lv 32? I just want to get it over with already.

I hear ya Sudo. I just grabbed 32 last night and its really slow for me too. I had been to the Bubu side of the Maze many times for RSE and even a bit of leveling at 30. The spawns are definately not that condusive to good leveling. They are very spread out and the tight tunnels make it diffcult to avoid the things that aggro and thats everything: bats, crawlers, and goblins.

I am gonna try Acrophies in Qufim today, see how that goes. If you find a good spot, I'd love to hear it! (^_^)

Try joining a pt for a couple of lvls, from what I seen it is more easy to get a pt which understands what to do around 30-33 in Altepa, in fact 2 of the 6 pt's I was in there had a BST in them, nuttin cooler thenm pt'ing with a bst and his pet tiger( lvled 4 jobs there just rec, but not bst).
In fact alot of the pt's I been in from 29-35 had a bst or a pt near by that had a bst, seems a quicker way to 35

acrophies are fine. you can also do gusgen bombs by now... the shrooms should be all controllable levels and some flies will be as well. The ones inside the farthest room may be too dangerous, but if that's the case you still have the two bomb spawns in the first room in the deep floor, and a few that spawn closer to the entrance in the last room.

gusgen can be seemingly intimidating because you're going ot be fighting bombs at a level where you dont have sneak (and everything around you is active, save the eles that occasionally pop). all it takes is a little bit of getting used to, though, and you'll never want to skip a bomb leveling area again.

as always, pack a reraiser or two and be ready to bail if things get shitty. meat mythkabobs may be nice as well, not for killing anything but to determine which flies are toughs that are only one level above you (you'll be fighting vt bombs anyway so dont worry about the 30% exp reduction), since those are still controllable.

          hrm... great idea frumpy.
Never thought about doing that kabob thing for checking.

One question that I never quite understood for guseng is that after I've gone through, how do I get out?

The times that I've gone as a whm, I could just warp/tele my self out of there. Cause the doors would close and no one was around to open them for me.

Is there a way out of there besides the ghetto warp or using 700 CQ points?

Considering the time it'd take to get back out you might as well just use an insta-warp. Besides, chances are better than good that you'll eat it several times from bombs anyway. Don't forget picks, but don't go around being jackasses taking mining spots from the miners; half the time you can just wait 10mins or so and a stray miner will get you a raise (this also means, if you're going to die try and die where there aren't too many mobs spawned about).

you can do the same trick with the attack ratings by switching to weapons you're not as skilled with, btw; since your attack rating is str/2 (I think) + weapon skill value, if your scythe skill is fairly close but not quite at the axe level it might end up being extremely useful.

Sudo! I see you got past 32, how'd you do it? I got tired of the madness and took a short break to level up my cooking that I left high and dry at 59 (got to 62 today, /cheer <me>)

What did you hunt at 32? Acrophies? Gusgen Basement? Or did you just grind it out in Korroloka?

              Inquiring minds want to know.

I did the korella tunnel till my eyes bled from so much crab on crab action..... shudders....

Got myself like 2 stacks of crab meat though.

Went through 33 on altepa spider on spider action.

Also found out that if there is a T beetle, I can throw 1 DC + 1 EM spider at it and maybe use another low DC, and I can bring it down to killable range. 200 exp a kill on T beetles. 140 if your pet survives. But T beetles are hard to come by. Didn't want to try VT beetle, might run out of pets.

It was slow at 33 cause there were 4 lv 32-34 bst operating in the same exact area as me and pets were getting in rather short supply. Must be the weekend.

I'm 34 now, and I'll go try taking on the goblin pets. Where are they supposed to be? Next to the oasis I know there's like a huge crowd of gobs but I didn't see any with pets when I ran by on choco. Any other locations they are commonly found wandering?

Dang I figured as much. Thanks for the reply, I guess its back to the tunnel for me. How were the Altepa Spiders @ 33? Could they be done at 32?

                    Thanks again Sudo.

spiders took some getting used to at 33 cause crabs and everything else was in familar territory.

I was fighting it out with a lv 32 bst in the same area with spider pets. Lots of DC to me but probably great for 32. The only problem I could forsee would be that there are T to a lv 33 bst that would still just look like a T to a 32. And you might need more pets than you origionally thought to kill it.

Getting agro from spiders is kind of dangerous. I got smacked with 200+ damage sickle slices sometimes when I was over there. Brought my HP down to 23 at one point and then I just hit the charm macro, charmed the T, and then poped 2 hr and ran to zone.

200+ damage siclke slice are fairly rare. Usually hits for 100 ish.

I once got sickle slashed for 450 Yeah I did those spiders from 31-34, at 34 did the goblin spiders. Go to the tallest dune, on the west side of it theres a Scorpion hole. A little more to the west theres a long ridge, and goblin traders and manticores are beyond the ridge. I would pull the goblin spiders with Dia, then kill em. You don't even need to release your pet since they are mostly VT and IT (but are easy to kill like DC).

I did my first goblin spider... scared me 1/2 to death...

ok, great exp first of all. 200 a pop.

I sent a DC challenge spider against one cause that's all I can find around me. My pet had low evasion so probably weaker end of things.

First mistake: I tried to melee along with my pet.

Pet hits for 30-50's, taking like 80 to 90 damage and couldn't hold agro vs my dia. Taking a swing at the pet spider almost killed me and brought me down to 80 hp cause I was getting smacked for 70 to 80's per hit. My pet died and I luckily ran into an even match pet or I'd bought the farm.

The even match pet killed the IT gob pet and survived with about 28% hp. Don't think I can kill it with just a DC or even a single Even match spider.

Mistake #2: forgot to put goblin's spider on track, I kept loosing it and almost ran into several goblins and subtender and anticans. cause I was stuck in wide scan map view.

Mistake #3: Not knowing where my next pet will be from. Luck saved me cause I ran across a EM before where I would have died.

Mistake #4: Gob pet spiders will link with any other spiders they run across. It actually agroed an easy prey spider that I passed up in my panic. I tamed it after EM engaged the gob spider and I used heel to pull my fight away.

I was very glad I checked out the whole area on chocobo. I could have easily ran into a giant bird thing and many antican/ cactur heavy areas.

I will need significant practice before I try it again. White knuckled ride all the way. I didn't try the manticore area eventhough there are many more gob traders there. I wasn't sure what manticores agro by and gob spider pets will link with other goblin's spider pets near it. I got lucky cause there was like 2 traders near the oasis. Phew...

Thanks for comments Mikeb, but I'd like to know where you got your pets from. I mostly get DC's and those just don't last against those gob spiders worth a darn. (only ones near the area) I'm also going to use paralyze to pull them. Dia is faster but agro control is hell.

At 34 I'd use any spider thats DC or EM (from what I remember very few). I'd use Pet Food if my pet was losing badly, I'd melee with it (guess I had the luxury of being Hume, I could take the hits since the fights were usually short), and if 1 pet couldn't finish it off I'd use a broth. At level 36 it gets easier, you'll be able to charm Beetles which kill the Goblin spiders very easy.
