bst hopes dashed.......the big boys?

i am hume whm that wants to become a bst.....other jobs taht i have tried became boring after a while, i thought i would go for bst then. but many people tell me while there soloing is great there is no place for them in the big boys battles like with Genbu, Adamantois, and Kirin and what not..while wanting to be a bst/whm i do not wish to be excluded from this sort of thing at the end of the game.....anyone high enough to fight the "big boys" have any info on what sort of role they play in those battles if any.....also if i have anything to look forward to at end game. thanks in advance for any replies....

Um... I suggest you do a search for bst vs HNM. This topic has been discussed before and the synopsis is: we're there too.

In fact, if you look at it.. lv 75 bst --> Cactur summon (new)

Cactur ====> 1000 needles ---> A world of hurt.
(who knows, maybe with the relic armor, bst can get the call beast upgrade and cactur might be able to do 10,000 needles)

In any case, getting into an HNM battle has a lot less to do with your job vs who you know. I am a low lv bst and only 43 whm/20 blm but once in a while my LS does an HNM and I just change into a whm/blm and go help out. They want me to get raise 2 or at least tractor so I can help out more on the reviving end of things (cause people die, a lot of times) but I'm lazy yet I still get to tag along to get the title at least and maybe some of the stuff no one wants (maybe when I get buffer I can go lot in for things cause then I'd actually deserve them)

In any case, most HNM link shells know who and what jobs they want but if you get to be their friend somehow, or just convince your own LS that they should start doing HNM's, then you will get to go along no matter your job.

Even if all you can do is sit on the side lines, and just spam cures to help out or sub blm to just tractor people, you can still be an asset to the fight.

And the final option for bst is very unique. We can solo HNM's like aquaris or lumbering lamber or that gob-hero what's his name, or even lord of onzo. (No other job can ever hope to do somethings we can)

Just get yourself another bst friend and go do NHM's with as little as 2 ppl. You can even do it solo if you want but much riskier

but on the bright side, I'm following in their footsteps and started my own bst LS on bismarck but people only seem to want to join it for the bcnm money so far :sweat:

Last time I fought KB we had a bst with us using broth pets, I don't know if they ever did any damage but it was fun watching a black mandy or a crab run after KB.

BST isn't that great for the real HNM from my experience... 1hand axe has nothing ooh for WS, we get 1hand sword skill (spirits within) but have E skill in sword, and for a lot of real HNM you don't necessarily want a pet beating on the thing and letting it get more TP. Honestly I haven't done any of these fights yet, but that is my initial observation/impression. There is another thread on this in the general race/job discussion forum. If you really want to be useful for HNM, it sounds like the best thing you could do is lvl a non whm mage.

if you really want to fight hnms, level a blm; even if they have tanks all set up doesn't mean a blm can't be added in to nuke shit.

i for one don't give a damn (which is why i'm not a blm); getting run over by guivre twice in 30 minutes (both raise 1's) while playing around in kuftal with my LS didnt help that either.

so is bst preety much main end goal is just to get to lvl 75? Since they cant fight hmn and such very well. Where as a whm or something has a main goal of getting into alot of Hmn fights and such later on.

Really depends if you're playing the game for the enjoyment of playing the game, or for the end result. I enjoy playing Pokemon FF, hence the reason I keep going with bst. If I wanted to fight big, bad bosses there's plenty of offline games where that opportunity's presented; I don't feel a need to level a job which I don't care for and then spend hours camping pop points just to fight a mob whose name doesn't change and sometimes look different from other mobs.

Not to say that I'm w/o anything to look forward to... I do plan to get revenge from Sea Horror. Oh, the traumas of a 400dmg insta-death early in the game...

see my problem is that i like soloing so figure bst, duh, but i am also really interested in the HNm fights at the end-game. they look awesome....tahts where the dilemma comes in *cry*...oh well ill just yry to make some friends and get into a HNM linkshell....hope that will work.
