  • evasion vs attack vs defence

    I'm kind of confused on what gear to get now. Some ppl recommend going with the full evasion set of equipment to fight the last bit of HPs while others recommend that I use full attack equipment (after switching out of chr gear)

    So what do you all perfer?

    something like beetle earring +1 --> +3 attack , -2 evasion

    or

    dodge earring ----> +3 evasion

    or maybe

    valor earring ----> +3 Hp, +3 MP

    and what about that cape?

    I got a nomad's cape, 1 AGI, 3 Evasion but only 1 defence,

    should I upgrade to that bat cape or maybe stick to something with more defence like a wolf mantle or maybe that ammenit mantle at later levels??

    Does extra evasion help more than attack? or should both be sacrificed for extra defence?? I'm a taru, would HP's and Str help more than defence and or accuracy?

    (Accuracy comes first I know but there just isn't much choice for many slots)

    I'd say that, being a Tarutaru, you should focus more on evasion than defense. Tarus can't take hits as well as something like an Elvaan or Galka, so focusing on evasion would probably work out better.

      Coming from a bst taru...

      It's nice to have both, but if you can only choose one I'd higly suggest accuracy and attack over evasion. Later on in the bsting process you'll usually be using most of your MP to keep blink and stoneskin on. While it'll depend on the enemy, this still gives you 2 free evasions from blink, and a variable amt of damage reduction from stoneskin. If you're in a hunting ground where fighting with your pet is the best option, then you'll probably just rampage (or raging if you're not past 55) after the release to finish the mob off. However, when you're in special hunting areas such as bomb leveling zones... you don't want to have the last little bit last too long. Active pets will require similar care; no penalty if the mob's finished off quick, but if you take too much time your former pet's going to get a little pissy at you.

      That's just me though, and as long as you keep the accuracy up, being a little lax on the offense shouldn't be a problem. Just like the way you know to start boosting dex when you're mischarming too much, add some offensive accessories when you start thinking that the final 1mm of mob HP is getting you near death.

        I'd say equip yourself for offence. This means lots of +STR and +ACC gear (I find ATk+ gear doesn't do as much, and +Dex isn't really that great either). You don't really need all the +1 equipment, just eat lots of food and use pet food...

          thanks for the advice ^^

          Maybe I'll get that wolf mantle +1 instead of my nomad's mantle then.

          Hrm... so str > attack?

          I always thought it was the other way around

          so um... spike necklace instead of tiger stole??

          taru RSE gloves +3 Str and +20 HP better than battle gloves?

            Yes, STR raises your actual damage curve (minimum damage and max damage range), whereas ATK only raises your average damage. (I wouldn't waste a slot for +5 ATK when mithkabobs give a 21 PERCENT increase)

              Thanks Mikeb.

              Hrm... maybe I'll use 1 balance ring and 1 +2 str ring instead of 2 balance rings while I'm at it then...

              taru need more str > dex?

                Oh yeah, Meat Mithkabobs are your friend +5 STR, +21 percent Attack = mobs drop alot quicker.

                  Keftenk has about 10 more STR then me but i have about 35 more atk, and I usually outdamage him. But I heard at higher levels when people are hiting the 500+ atk mark, STR is more important then ATK. For BST ATK and Acc is gona be more important, cause those 2 will help finish the last 5% of the mobs HP, whereas Evasion to me, just makes the last few hits even longer. Especially since you get Bink and stoneskin already.
