  • Some Questions

Hello, I'm thinking of starting a BST .. kinda a Long Term Investment since I heard BST is great at making cash. Although Red Mage suffices as a farmer it doesn't quite pull it.. I have all the equipment for my level except dark staff and ice staff and those two objects are really buggin gme..

So my question is.. will leveling 1-50 as BST earn me back the money I will need to use to buy 2 sniper rings + Monster signa ??
    around 900k total...

I am relaly having a hard time deciding and thinking whether Ill ever make that money back from just lvling the job itself alone.

    Thanks for your time

Possibly. When you're high enough, farming too weak mobs with a broth is easy. Your broth can do more dmg than you against this stuff, and speeds up the whole process.

answer: don't buy a signa or anything that costs more than 30~50k and you're good to go.

Farming won't get you fast cash in all cases; bsts can farm better, but you'll also use cash on the broths. The real thing, is that you can level and make money at the same time -- something that can't be done while fighting crawlers in a pt that'll maybe drop a thread or two a fight (and hten be lotted on vs 6players).

Just to give you an idea of how much i've made, I dont think I've had much more than 100k at any time between lv1~55. Sure, i did spend cash on RK armor and such, but it also goes to show that it won't make you rich. I did start bst hearing that it's a goodmoneymaker and because bots were overrunning my dream to catch my own moats for a lu shang, but I wouldnt have kept going unless I enjoyed it.

But that's the beauty of it. I can use the lvl 23 crab familiar, or just make the broth myself using water + 4 sardines, which must make it one of the cheapest out there. At lvl 60, even if this is a capped non-HQ broth, it still does huge dmg to stuff in 30-40s, making it a quick and easy way to farm stuff.

As for expenditure, I guess bst isn't too expensive - and you do get to keep *all* items that drop. Best way to make money as a bst however, would be a 6 bst team for BC40.

            >.< Oooohhh... I can't wait for 6bst BCNM's. Being a brd in BCNM40 was fun, but I can't imagine how fun it will be as a bst. What's even better is bst's get to keep all of the dropped beast seals, so more BCNM's.

I'm just hoping there are 5 friendly bst's with the same interest as me on Lakshmi once I get to lvl 40. By then I'll have close to 250 seals to burn.

bst bcnms are ridiculously easy, and frankly get old after the first one. All you do's watch and wait, basically...

And perhaps if the spider drops in boyahda are as good as I hear, i'll be making big bucks when I level next. As long as you don't set an overly high expectation on it, the drops can indeed be good.

Well, at level 52 I think that I only really started making money once I began doing bcnms. I've probably made about 1 million gil in total using maybe 6 star orbs? I've been lucky to have erase drop a couple of times and utsemi ni drop a few times. Whatever it is that I've made, it's been enough to buy a signa, valkyrie mask, all of the armor that I've needed and each of the weapons that are the best for the level I am at.

Leveling in crawler's nest has been good to me, I've sold a lot of silk thread and beetle jaws recently.

I am still quite sick of bc40 though, even if they have been good to me. It gets super boring after your group figures out how to beat the living crap out of it in under 6 minutes each time... bleh.

I've done bc40 4 times, which is roughly about 20-24 times total. I mean 4, as in used 4 orbs.

Last 3 of those times I've personally got stuff worth 20k.

So yeah, pretty disenchanted with the whole "money-making" side of that.

                  Not fair. *sniffs*

Never in any job, have I had as much money as BST. Its not millions or even hundreds of thousands. But I have 50k+ on me at all times, and have gear worth well over 200k. I get mad when I level and cant find some new cool piece of equipment to wear.

So yeah it is not a huge money maker, but I can think of any class that would have an easier time making cash then BST.

For example, I would often pass up -ga spells as my BLM, or -ra spells as my WHM. With BST I was able to go through and catch up on the spells I was missing.

Yep, BCNMs can really suck nowadays... now that more of the NAs are attempting them as well, prices are way low on some stuff (though that'll vary from server to server). Just for reference, here are the top cashmakers from bcnm40 on carbuncle:

                      erase (~350k?)
                      phalanx (~150k?)
                      utsu2 (~40k)
                      IceSpike (~10~15k?)

everything else is 7k or less, with most of the equip selling higher at the store than in auction (the exception being balance buckler, which also is dropping in price).

You'll expect to spend at least an hour with all the BCNM fights for your pt, add 30mins for transportation, and maybe an hour or more gathering a bst pt. considering the time commitment, it's really a gamble for money... the good thing is that the price of admission is cheap.
