  • No luck getting Courier Carrie @ Level 60 cooking. What's up?

I just reached 53 the other day, decided to play around with broths. I was able to get HQ synths which resulted in Shellbuster Orob, Saber Siravarde, and Coldblood Como. However, after more than 10 stacks of bastore sardines, I never got any HQ fish broth results. Anyone with cooking above 60 have luck getting courier carrie using the 4x bastore sardine recipe? I think i'll try again with other fish, but so far, none are available. Kinda weird, considering the fish broth is level 20-30ish cooking.

Well, if anyone got lucky and was able to get CourierCarrie, let me know what lvl cooking is required. thnx.

    Well weird thing here..

Fish broth is lvl 37, and while lvling cooking up from 33 to 36, I got 1 HQ synth. Odd how I am not even higher than 37? It wasn't watersday, but I did have advanced image support. With all that synthing I didn't have one failure either. It seems to be a nice recipe to skill up on.

Anyway yeah, it really threw me when I got this HQ synth even though I thought you had to be waaay higher than the recipe lvl in order to have a chance.

    Guess not.

You can get HQ synth on any item but if you gain skill from makeing the item u have about as much chance of getting a HQ synth as you do getting a carbuncle ruby ^_^

I am lvl 31 in the skill any tips on what to make? ive been thinking fish broth since my bst will be 23 by the end of the weekend.. But i dunno

It's my understanding that HQ results are best achieved on or before the day of your crystal during a full/new moon cycle.

I'm 56 with cooking, and about to be BST 23 so I'm gonna start making some broths, I plan on synthing during this sweet spot even though I won't be able to use the NM broths for some time.

I'll be sure and let you know if I have any luck ^.^

At first when i failed to get any HQ, it was during windsday. Then I just fished a few stacks of sardines and waited until next day. BAM!! again, no luck.

And I kept trying but after over a dozen stacks with no luck, i figured, screwed it. I think i'm going to skill up cooking to 70 or above and see whats up then.........

Hmmm, now that you mention it, I think ill head to windy and try my luck there with the advance image support.

@ 31 cooking, i think u should hit up the iron/black bread recipe.

          Iron bread Cooking - 34

          Earth x San'd flour x 1, Rocksalt x 1, Distilled water x 1

          Black bread - Cooking 34

fire x Rye Flour, Distilled water, rocksalt,

          Meatball (12) Cooking 35 -

          earth x Hare meat x1 , sandy flour x1, distilled water x 1

When you reach 34 or so, do the Fish broth

          Water x Bastore Sardine x 4 - l v 37 cap cooking

***** on the side note, me and another bst tried to do what you and nother BST did Lily, we wanted to duo the NM in feyin. I'm 53, he juz got 50 and we juz said, what the heck, after dying twice to bcnm40 (which we tried to duo -- didn't work) we juz decided to go at it anyways. Well, too many close calls getting into that place but when the NM popped on the 2nd pool we went at it but luckily had a high lvl summoner helped out cuz he juz happneed to be there. Even so, it took forever...................

Now my hardest part is probably gonna be getting the beadeaux coffer. Nothing to charm and even if i was 60, those quadavs seem pretty hard to solo/duo or even trio.

Do you happen to know what moon phase you were operating in?

at ~+30 skill limit you'll start getting fairly occasional HQs. at ~+50 you'll start getting them fairly often (50%?).

Unless you're in dire need of carries, it'll be cheaper to buy fungar familiars till ~lv65 at which point you'll reach its lv cap. 9k or so a dozen for one of the strongest pets aint half bad.

now is the fungar capped at 65?

I always thought it was uncapped. Is there a guide or thread that fully answers this cause everyone seems to just be speculating at this point.

Ok, I've come to the conclusion that neither the day nor the moonphase played a role in the HQ result that I was aiming for. Here is why.

During that same moonphase and day. Of which, I can only recall that the day was Windsday and forgot what moonphase, however, it should not mattered.

In the span of half an hour or so I synth multiple recipes for broths.

                  1. Bug Broth - lvl 15 cooking
                  Recipe: Water, Lugworm x 2, Shell bug x 2

                  2. Carrion Broth - lvl 11 cooking
Recipe: Water, Geletin, Hare Meat x 2, Rotten Meat

                  3. Meat Broth - lvl 27 cooking
Recipe: Water, Gelatin, Hare Meat, Dhalmel Meat, G. Sheep Meat

                  4. Fish Broth - lvl 37 cooking
                  Recipe: Water, Bastore Sardine x4

                  --------------------------------

All of the recipes resulted in a high amount of HQ synths except for the fish broth, which resulted in 0 after over a dozen stack of sardines.

I think the fish broth requires me to be even higher than 60 to yield courier carrie.

This might just be the case, my cooking skill is still not high enough to yield HQ results from recipes around this range. Thinking back, I was never able to get any Meat Chiefkabobs while making reguarl Mithkabobs. The Mithkabob recipe is around 37-38 as well.

*** sidenote, I logged back in and it was waters day, i quickly grabbed 2 stacks of sardines and synth, this was at Quarter moon 52%. No courier carrie, and in jeuno i grabbed 4 bluetails and resulted in 24 fish broths (12 each from water/bluetail x2) and no courier carrier as well.

I haven't gotten up that far in lvl, but from reading the BST threads on Shitaraba that's what it's capped at. Since a broth pet's lvl is 2~3 below your level, you'll reach the actual cap @ ~67~68. Some people have already run tests using ahrimans' level5 stonecurse skill.

As far as it's known the only uncapped ones are carrie and homunculus; Galahad may be the same way, but I think it's just that it's undeterminable since it's a lv63 broth and the levelcap is currently 75 (with typical broth caps being lv requirement +10).

I second this. Going to attempt to get cooking up to 85~ with the 200k i got left, hopefully that is enough.

I will update once my cooking is above 80.

Scary, that's a very high lvl of cooking. As with all crafts I suppose it's taken a lot of time and money to do that. Would you say it's been worth it? I presume you can make some really amazing foods now, but are they foods that ppl use regularly and are willing to pay for? Do you make your money by the increased chance of making HQ snyths or through the really high recipes that ppl pay for?

I was just curious what you thought.

Because we have the game 2 years after its been out (its slightly unfair to US gamers) the only way to make profits is really making HQ items. In almost every craft thats really the only way to make a significant amount of profits.

Well I got 57 this morning (firesday with a full moon going on, had to take advantage) before I set out to make some Fish Broth.

It was Watersday, 90% waning at 57 Cooking and I got 1 Fish Oil Broth out of 12 synths. Compared to the rate in which I was making Famous Carrot Broth, this is bad.

I did 4 Carrot Broth synths and 3 (75%) of those were Famous Carrot Broth and one was a +2 Synth since I got 8 Famous Carrot Broth instead of the normal 4. Cost me 300 gil to make 12 Famous Carrot Broths that sold for 5K \($.$)/

If Carrot Broth is a level 3 Synth (54 level difference from where I am), and Fish Broth is a 37 synth, at 85 there should be a comprable rate of succeeding (50-75%) one would assume with making Fish Oil Broth.

And Lily, I think he means he is trying to get to 85, he hasn't already. I didn't really see all that many recipes above 60 that looked all that good. Sure HQing must be a lot easier, but I don't know if its really worth it. Especially if its true that you can only distribute 40 extra skill levels among all the trades after level 60. I'm not sure if this is so since there are recipes on Allakhazam for JSE that requires two level 82 crafts.

Bigbird is absolutely right in that its really hard to make any money off normal synths anymore. You can make money selling Pet Food Delta to NPCs (about 1250 per 12 synths given the cost of ingredients on my server) but most other stuff such as Mithkabobs and Apple Pies are all undersold by higher level crafters that make their money off of HQ items. I was pissed when I saw how much money I lost making Apple Pies that sold for less than it cost to make em. I don't know about Melon Pies, but I assume the same is true.

Until I want to make Courier Carrie reliably (or they come out with a new broth synth /crossfingers) I don't see the need to go past 60. You can make all the Pet Food, its more than twice the level of the next highest broth Meat Broth HQing that shouldn't be too hard, stupid Fish Broth and its 37 synth (>.<)
