Elvaan or Taru?

Ok, I'm a taru and my buddy Jez that I level with is Elvaan. We're kind of in the opposite situation to Kef and Bird though, Jez dies... a LOT more than me, but it seems that I die when we're leveling and he dies when we're trying to find new places to level, which are always my hairbrained ideas... I think that one day he died 6 times or so while I only died twice. We put out the same damage, but that ass has about 200 hit points more than me, WHAT A JERK! At one point I had more STR than he did and he had more MP that me... wtf....

Bottom line of my ramblings, there's enough gear to make up for what your race lacks, but damn that extra 200 hit points would be nice.

let the bst tank while you enfeeble and support your beast whats the point of having high hit points and high vit/str when your beast is the one using those stats... of course if a charm fails the elvaan has the advantage here as he can take more punishment but i wouldnt pick an elvaan just because of this advantage.

imo beastmaster is tailor made for a taru.

I'll Keep it simple, Statistically, Elvaans are better Every stat bonus that elvaans get is used for lvling this job, while Tarus High INT is not used. Its your second highest stat(after Chr), and unless you sub BLM, its never used.

The point to having high VIT/STR is that SOMEONE has to finish the mob off!!!!!! Does taru high INT, low VIT, HP and STR, help u finish the mob off? Sorry bro, Tarus have it harder , in the end BST is like a 1/3 melee job, and in that 1/3 part that we havve to melee we are at a disadvantage. But Tarus can do this sucessfully thanks to the pet doing 90% of the work.

Well you are 60+ BST so i know you know what your talking about as i am nowhere near that level with BST.

I still like the taru bst though... in my eyes seems good for the class using your pet to balance your weaknesses and play to your strengths.

Well, I think I sold out. I just don't think I have it in me to lvl my Elvaan to Whm37. I have a hard enough time making enough gil and fame to keep my Taru's spells updated. I do plan to lvl Elvaan Nin though, so maybe I'll try that someday.
