  • /BST question..

Hey i was a little confused when a friend of mine posted this:

Mort, interesting point you misstated there, charm has nothing to do with the BST lvl when subbed, but the main lvl. So it is effective at any point.

and again, you can charm anything on or below your lvl with ease. the half lvl thing is for a perminant charm, and if your doing it right, you only need them a minute anyway.

and as so many of you seem to see me stating things as the word of god, this is just my opinion. I looked over a lot of data and while BST is a rarely seen sub, it can be very effective if used right. Do look at all the opinions and devise your own plan.
Now i am confused...so Charm isnt affected by lvl of BST? Is it purely on the CHR stat? Is what he saying right? I mean i can understand a /BST working at low solo lvls but i cant see how he can say its good at higher lvls..>.> *confused at this new look on things*

CHR affects your Charm success rate. Your main level seems to affect charm time. The reason a BST sub doesn't work well is because your CHR will be reduced lowering your success rate. Also, you won't get "Heel" until lvl 20, "Stay" until lvl 30, "Sic" until lvl 50, and "Release" until lvl 70. Because of that and the CHR issue, you would also have to constantly have your BST sub at its maximum level (You wouldn't be able sub a lvl 10 BST with a level 40 main). You won't be able to use Pet Jugs or Pet Food, too.

I'm sure Stephen or StarRealms could add much more in terms of a BST subs effectiveness.

I think the problem is that when bst is subbed it causes the charm rules to change somehow. Sadly, no one knows really how this works.

But I remember subbing my lvl 12 bst when I was a 30 whm, and trying to charm maze scorpions in Shakhrami. They conned as easy prey, but as 30 / 12, I'd get the charm in 3-5 attempts. I wore a flower necklace another time, and then it seemed like I could get it in 1-3 attempts. And this was easy prey! As a lvl 30 bst, charming easy prey, it would be a piece of cake - not get repeated fails.

It's almost as if your charisma is halved or something if you sub bst, *even though* you can still potentially charm anything you normall could.

If you're charming "too weak" then you'll probably be okay, but if you want to charm even matches with bst subbed, expect a handful of failures before you get it.
