Is the Monster Signa a MUST for BSTs?...

can I still do just as good as a BST w/ the MS? how much does the MS help? i don't really feel like spendin 300+k on it.../sigh


and also, are Pet Foods a MUST also? cuz if so then i'd have to lvl my cooking...up to what level to make Pet Foods?

In regardance to Pet Foods:

They help a lot. Luckily someone in my LS is a Cullinarean so now he can make me Gamma Biscuits (100HP). It's very useful when going Even->Tough. I don't know if it's necessary, but it's very good for chains.

As for Signa you don't NEED it, but you may find it would help at level 17 since there isn't gobs of +chr equip at that level, but since you're a taru you're chr is fine, where as for me, being mithra, it's not ; ;

I still don't have a monster signa yet. My character is a level 38 Mithra BST and I still don't really have any problems so far. I failed charms 3 times today while playing most of the day so the failure rate is almost zero. But all three failed charms happened kind of near each other. I guess sometimes I feel like my success rate drops to 75% or so every once in a while for no reason, like this game just wants me to get killed. Maybe at higher levels it makes more of a difference, but I don't really know yet.

The monster signa isnt a hard drop to get and is well worth it until you get your BST af weapon. I reccomend camping h-9 for Hoo Xu the torrent if you dont want to spend the 300k gil.

Some mobs do have higher resistance to charm too. Skinks, jellies, cactuars supposedly.

I don't think MS is essential at all. If you have plenty of +chr gear already, you should be fine. I've got 2 pieces of my AF now anyway, which combined add +5 charm, on top of my boost of +17 chr for when I charm. Maybe one day I'll get MS, hehe.

i reckon I'll get a signa some day; however, for now (lv33tar) I've had no problems charming most mobs with only 2 of those +2chr rings and a bird whistle.

I'm just going with the idea that I'll boost CHR when I start feeling that it's hampering my gameplay. Said another way, I have 50K in savings which can't even buy me a set of dodge earrings.
