BST/RDM? or RDM/BST? and other Q's

OK well i just started a RDM, and i was wondering which is the bestway to go? BST/RDM? or RDM/BST. Ive read some posts about how if u sub a BST you can still tame them for just as long. But you dont get the skill release. So i was wonder which one would b the best build for me in the end.

Also For all you RDM/BST or BST/RDM players did u have to raise your axe skill from lvl 1? Since RDMs cant use axes? and was it a pain?

BST/RDM although you will be missing status cures this route which might be an annoyance/problem at times. RDM/BST is situationally useful, not really good for exp PTs or the long term.

Axe skill was not a pain to raise (did have to raise from 1 unless you levelled it with something like warrior perhaps) because you often fight stuff at around your level.
