Ive seen on many sites that BST have an A rating with axe...as do warriors...does that mean that BST are as damaging with an axe as warriors are? (without berserk)

Basically, I'm curious as to how much damage a BST can do in melee.

Yes in a sense BSTs are "as damaging" as warriors with a 1hand axe. However later on 1hand weapons typically seem to do less damage compared to 2hand weapons, and you need a pet around to do decent damage. Warrior sub or some other melee damage sub is also important. Beast killer abilities can help make up the difference somewhat assuming you hunt beast types but for pure melee other jobs definitely do more damage.
