search for vana diel monsters website (dara posted a link in an earlier thread in this forum). that is your bst bible, know it, use it, love it. While it doesn't tell you the best place to go, it gives plenty of ideas to try. Remember to look for stuff that you can tame that is exactly your lvl, with at most 1-2 levels above and 1 below (ideally but this differs)
