All it's stating is which monster type is weaker to which (Much like what element is weak to what element).
So if you are in an area like Tahrongi and you are taking the Pygmoi (Mandragora Creatures) and throwing them against something like a Dhalmel then the Plant type creature is going to be stronger against it then if you threw it against something else.
A better example for Tahrongi would be if you took a Mandragora or Sapling type (Pygmaioi or Stroling Sapling) and threw them against the Rarab type (Think the ones there are called Wild Rarabs??) the plantoid types (Mandragora/Sapling) will have an impossed advantage over the Beast type (Rarabs).

I am currently a low level BST but i am going to really pick it up when i get home and get my Drk up higher. Really looking forward to getting him up past the 40's so i can play around in places and not be scared of getting owned by some random mob. It's a great job and i wish i would have gotten into it before. Anyone a level 1-5 bst on Kujata looking for a duo partner I am willing to start doing it when I get home (August 25th or so). Let me know.I am Dexster of Ramuh

Hmm well after reading this entire post it's come to my opinion that maybe I was wrong for arguing with Imac on the Ranger forum, maybe it's his persona to put up a argument on something he himself hasnt tried. I tried the BST/War approach early on but in my opinion it's just too much downtime for me, I havent tried it recently since lvl 25+ but it was just entirely too much resting involved at certain points.BST 53, Rng 55, War 37, Drg 43, Nin 18, Thf 17, Whm 27, Blm 15.....

is there any place better or easier then valkum at 22. it seems like most mobs are still conning tough to me at the hidden beach. the gobs there spawn evan match or tough, most times its tough. the flies an clippers mostly con d/c, with an ocasional evan match an a few ep. most say to grab a thread leach an go to town. only bad part is they are all conning tough to me. an when i charm them, it doesnt last more the a half a fight to a whole fight depening on the mob. same with tough pugils. im bst/whm. with +10 charisma. on top my chr stats.

Go to Buburimu. Trust me, Valkurm is a pain, and you can level fairly close to the Mhaura zone. The mobs are the same levels, but there are less noob parties around to bother you, which means faster exp. Set your HP in mhaura in case of death... might take a while for a raise here.
Crawlers are 20-23, Dhamels are 20-23, and Zuus are 20-23. You gotta be able to find a good mix there. Careful, pugils here are higher level (24-28) than Valkurm (23-26) and they link. Dont touch them till level 25 at least (although there better places @ 25)
Goblin Muggers, Gamblers, Leechers are all level 20-25, so you will still be able to get great exp off these, especially if they suicide. You have good pets to charm there too, as dhamels will have good specials you can use once you get Sic at level 25(?)
Assuming the leeches are the same level in Valkurm and Buburimu, they are 21-25. Charm at own risk, they link bad if you fail, but they make strong-ass pets.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

As soon as I reached 25 I went to Ordelles Caves, upper level where there are holes to drop down to Stroper/high level gob rooms. In one of the south rooms there were 2 seeker bats. I would take the lower level and send it against the higher level, and help fight if necessary.
Then after they were dead, I would grab a vorpal bunny and use against Dung beetles (also farming beetle jaws). I avoided the jellies in the other south room. They start at level 26, but they are insanely hard to charm. I just kept cycling the spawn areas here, nothing aggros (except jellies and bats), only link, so you are really safe. Bring a couple of silent oils and prism powders to get you to the room, as you have to pass by quite a few gobs and hognosed bats (yes they still aggro at lvl 25) I leveled here from 25-26 very quickly, then I went to Qufim and started on worms using seeker bats or crabs as pets.
All that being said, you could certainly stay at Buburimu longer, and start fighting Pugils (24-28) but everything else would be EM or less, so I prefered to leave.
For directions on getting to the Ordelles camp, go here: http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/ click on Ordelles caves, and the camp is the map on the lower left, where the 4 dots are. Go up the stairs past the hognosed bats, and you will see the Vorpal bunnies.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

I just choose to saty in valkum at the hidden beach. for 4 lvls i never had 1 pt there. so i had pretty much free reign of the place. there was always insane amounts of d/c, an evan matchs. then i hit 24 an it was like hitting the brick wall. almost all the crabs were e.p. the flies were all e.p. with very very few d/c. the leechs there were still conning tough for the most part, with a few d/c, or evans. the pugils still conned as tough. with a rare evan from time to time.
the cut off for this place has got to be 24. regardless of what the alla bst guide states. to many ep, an very few evans. so fighting gobs is a pain, cause most times i was throwing e.p's at it. an alot of it..
so is burb penn still a good place to lvl up til 25. if so where should i set up a camp site? after 25 what other options do i have. because right now im losing faith in the bst guide...

The guide on alla is good as a reference point, but it's obviously just people's opinions so you cant count on it. I find it was bang on for some levels, but I just got frustrated with others, especially when they listed the same camp spot for 3-4 levels in a row. You are level 24 now, correct?
Regarding Valkurm, it gets tough at 24, but its not the wall. I stayed there and grinded from 24-25 but looking back, I wish I was at Buburimu. There are a few reasons for this. One is that there are 3 types of level 20-23 mobs (crawlers, dhamels, and Zuus) Valkurm only has Flies and sheep. Lots of gobs here that there are no parties exp'ing on, and also the terrain is better suited for bst. There is excellent camp really close to town.
Knowing mob levels is very important. At level 24, you wont find any EM flies or sheep. The Pugils will be either DC, EM, Tough, or Tough+. Gobs will be easy prey all the way to tough (level 20-25). I stayed at the hidden beach and killed gobs and pugs, using anything I could get my hands on. Leeches mostly, although quite a few were tough (strange since they are level 21-25). There were still some DC flies in the area too. Hell, if I was lucky, I even found a few decent challenge snippers, and they did quite well against gobs and pugs. It's also nice to have the zone to gustav there, although there are 2 bats in the way who will take you down if your life is already low. I usually just put one against the other, let mine die, and finish off the other one every time they spawn. Hell, use them as pets against the pugs if you want... they are DC. Good starter mob anyway.
Just get past this level and you can go to the ordelles camp, where I guarantee you will level in an evening easily, and then on to Qufim, for a REAL adventure. This is likely where you are to get some hostility from groups, since you will be taking their crabs and worms... Remember this about Qufim too... Bats are strong against bones- an EM bat should almost be able to take out a Tough+ wight, and if it uses jetstream, it likely will take it out. Great place for chains.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

i think the hidden beach has lost its effectiveness. when i hit 24 i did a run thru. not many even conned d/c to me. so i chaulked it up to low lvl pops before i lvled. so i took a leech an mass killed all the ep's of the flies, an crabs. witch sadly turned out to be almost all of them. so i told my leech to stay in the tunnel out of the beach, an headed to the tunnel near gustav. i soon lost charm, but the leech never came after me.
so i took that leech after a pugil, but the pugil had no problems with the leech. i took a crab after it, then a fly, then a crab. it finally killed it. for 98 exp. alot of mobs, an alot of work for the exp. an alot of those gobs were conning d/c+, with some evan matchs, an a very few of the them conned tough. to me it just seemed like the mob selections became nonexistant.
the problem i have is the alla guide, is it is a good reference. but has its flaws. for one to me it just sounds like the poeple who added areas, where just guessing. or fighting in such a way where it was almost asking for death. cause to be honest the picking at the hidden beach were slim. no way can you lvl there til 28. they say charm leechs 22-26, bit i know im struggling to find anything to charm with leechs lvling range from 21-25. that con any lower then tough. well i hope you know what i mean.,.
but i think i will take the burb route, an see how it goes. if anything i will grind it out. the differnt area will be better on the eyes, then the hidden beach was for my last 4 lvls.
