            Hello Alucard #1848382943482, nice to meet you.

            man I'm sick of people using that name...

            Sure this has NOTHING to do with the thread topic...but we left that subject 8 pages ago.

            • Are we still allowed to make posts in here about good places to fight? heh.

              Ok, i've been stuck at 14 BST for a while now.. The highlands was great at 13, but after I leveled to 14 it's pretty much crap now, sooooo..

              I decided to try Dangruf Wadi.. i remembered I had at one point seen a BST sending Leech's after Gob's. I couldn't find that spot. All I could find was hare's that wouldn't be able to take out the Gob's. I was blocked from getting to several routes to go by Gob's. I tried to wait patiently to get past to check all the rooms, but eventually some guy trained 5 gob's past heading to zone. I knew that meant they would return, and so I tried to run but they killed me on the way back.

              So, I talked to a BST on my server who said he had been at the lake all morning and had just got 14. (Lake in La Theine that is) I headed up there.. but it's simply far too crowded. He had done this extremely early in the morning. If I had been alone at the lake it would have been 'ok'. Mostly decents but a few evens.. I would have needed to leave at 15 probably.

              Looking for a good spot to level at until I can move to Dunes or something. Is Buburimu a good place at 14th? I noticed someone mentioned Funguars near the zone to Valk.. I could definately give that a try tonight.

              • Bubimaru might be a bit high for 14, but Taronghi canyon could work with dhamels or akbabas.

                • Ahh, okie. I'll give Tahrongi a try tonight possibly then. I think that's what I meant.. haven't spent much time in Windy area's. Bubiramu = Valk level right?

                  If Tahrongi works maybe I'll stay and move on to Bubiramu.. I hear it's good exp comparable to Valk, but no-one groups there. Which should be perfect for a BST.

                  • Some Corrections and experiences at lower levels

                    First off, let me say that this was an excellent guide, it really helped me out in the early levels in Ronfaure. There are, however, a few things wrong with your hypotheses, so here are some corrections:

                    I ran Vanadiel Monster's guides through Babelfish and came up with a few interesting problems:

                    1. Funguar are not plantiods, VM has them as Amorpha. From experience in Ronfaure, I can verify this, as I took a Funguar out on a little bat hunting mission and managed to get intimidations to appear almost every time the Funguar attacked. (Why bats are classified as birds will forever elude me, though).

                    2. Also, Cockatrices are not classified as Lizards on that site, but rather birds. This would seem to make sense, as they drop the large bird feathers used in a few quests and crafting recipes. Where they keep those feathers, though, is anyone's guess. VM makes a further distinction here by classifying Cockatrices as separate from Big Birds, like Deadly Dodo. I'm not sure if there is anything that would fit this model that isn't a NM or HNM, so you've got me why that info is important. Big Birds are naturally also classified as birds, in terms of 'killer' traits and weaknesses.

                    3. I don't have the levels to verify this yet, but they've listed Goobbues and Adamantoise in the lizard category. Can't charm these to check, but you may want to plan on that if you decide to visit Pashhow later on.

                    4. Worms are classified by VM as Amorpha, I seem to remember pugils tearing through these, so that's probably right.

                    5. Behemoth are listed under the Beast category. I wasn't aware that you could charm these, but maybe that's useful for Beastkiller usage.

                    Oh yeah, you also need another definition line in there:

                    Amorpha: Slimes, Hecteyes, Leeches, Funguars, Worms.

                    Finally some very low level advice for those of you in other locations:

                    Sarutabaruta (both sides).

                    Bumblebee -> Tiny Mandragora 1-4
                    Mandragora -> Savannah Rarab 3-7
                    Giant Bees -> Mandragora 6-8
                    Crawlers -> Mandragora 6-8

                    East Saruta only.

                    Carrion Crow -> Pug Pugil 4-7 (expect to help the pet here).
                    Carrion Crow -> River Crab 3-8

                    West Saruta only.

                    Carrion Crow -> River Crab 3-5

                    You're going to get pretty bad exp using a pet on the first few levels, but it will give you a pretty good idea of what you're looking for in an ideal pet later on. Using this combo, you'll be able to recognize the "killer" effect of some pets against others and be better able to judge how your levelling combo is stacking up.

                    That "Killer" effect is what makes this guide so useful, and the chart really explains it well. Vermin eat Plantoids, for example, so when using a bumblebee against a tiny mandragora, you can get the bee's "plant-killer" effect to kick in. In battle, this will look like:

                    "a Tiny Mandragora is intimidated by the bumblebee's presence".

                    Plantoids eat Beasts, so using a mandragora against a rarab should give you the same effect. I'm not entirely sure if this is just an extra damage effect, or if it works as a slowing effect like the Intimidate attack Pugils use on players, but either way it really enhances your pet's effectiveness in combat. By way of example, I threw a decent challenge forest funguar with 30% of his hp left at a decent challenge mouse bat in West Ronfaure last week. Not only did the funguar survive, but he seemed to be intimidating the bat on almost every attack, and he really chewed through that bat.

                    Finally, if you plan to use pets to hunt Beastmen, it helps to try and use the largest variety of pet class in that area. For instance, I was using Giant Sheep to hunt orcs in Ronfaure. Crawlers would also work if you're in the Sarutabaruta region. These larger creatures seem to be able to take more abuse than their smaller counterparts, they also dish out damage better. One final tip on this front, if you are attacking a casting beastman, such as a Goblin Weaver, Orc Mesmerizer, Yagudo Acolyte/Scribe, etc. always send the pet in first before you try attacking, running up on the monster, debuffing it, or whatever. These monsters like to start casting with things like Dia and Poison, letting the expendable member of your group take this damage can be much easier on the exp, especially since we don't pick up Poisona from a WHM sub until lvl 14. Poison has killed me more times than I care to count in Ronfaure and Sarutabaruta, and that's with the WHM sub for cures.

                    Anyway, at lvl 9, I feel this class is really starting to take off in terms of what I can do, I look forward to the other levels. Hopefully, people will read this thread first before they try BST out, Dara's information makes it much easier.

                    • Yes I lvl to 14 at the tiny lake in the SE corner of La Theine. Luckily no one was there but fishers who helped me out when things got tougher than I wanted.

                      I then moved on to Tahrongi to fight crawlers, rarabs, yagudas, then Dhalmels. It worked quite well as few people hunt in the NW Dhalmel area of the map. I got 15 and 16 there. I then felt it was too low and moved on to Bubu.

                      Bubu was a bit scary at 16 with all those gobs, but I found a good spot where I could fight rarabs and sylvestries. I am now 17, and can easily take on the mean gobbies in Bubu....there are just so many of them....you have to be careful. :confused:

                      Oh and watch out for the mean Zombies and Bogys that appear at night along with the occasional will-o-wisp. They always seem to appear next to me during a battle....then I die. Otherwise it is great.

                      I just refuse to go to dunes with so many ppl there.

                        • Just on a little side note, it occures to me, that if you were to sub Pld, instead of pumping your mana, you could simply pick up a Mana to HP converter, and just dump your mana into your health, instead.

                          Then again, I haven't had a chance to try Bst yet, as I do intend to play my Mnk for some time, and Mnk equipment is *expensive*. (==farming for ever)

                          Anyone want to buy some silk? 10k a dozen...

                          • I've tried a few combos, /Rdm, /War, /Whm, /Mnk. I have the most fun with /Whm hands down. I lose about 1-2 attack points by subbing Whm over Monk or War, and don't lose any defence (thanks to Protect). I didn't want to do this combo because everyone else did it, but I have the most FUN playing this combo. Levelling Whm isn't too bad, it goes by quickly and is very easy (if you have a decent tank - but since Whm is in such demand you can basically choose your groups). Anyhow the only +chr gear I have is a Noble's Ribbon and Beast Whistle, the rest of my gear is +acc, +atk and +dex/str (I can hit as hard as most warriors, unless they use berserk). I would recommend as much gear to boost your attack as possible - an even match pet is going to keep the hate anyway. +5 chr is enough for the moment, I'll probably hunt the signa soon for insurance...

                            Anyhow back to levelling spots, I'm at lvl 30 right now - killing giants/pugils in Qufim is safe and works, but doesn't deliver much XP. Same with Korrolloka - all I can find are decent Spiders to kill, and those jellies are getting on my nerves. Are there any places at lvl 30 where I can chain some even match+? Or should I just party my way to 35 where the good levelling spots are?

                              Besides Dara's posts, this seems to be ONE of the only few in this whole thread worth reading. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the minor corrections to her guide Kitalrez .
