Well, I'm thinking that I might be able to make a fairly good melee fighter with a BST/NIN combo.

I'd get a small bonus by equipping two axes that gave a boost (a 2x bonus to be exact). Plus, most importantly, I'd look as cool as all hell.

And the way the damage works out, I'd have enough strength to be a good front line fighter.

Being able to have a pet is just icing on the cake.


Plus, I'd have two axes!!!

/sigh...Ninja doesnt allow you to wield two of any weapon ~~; only swords, daggers, katanas i believe.

Yes ive thought of the idea too but sadly keftenk is right, you cant dual wild 1h axes. It would be cool if you could though

Actually, you can Dual Wield 1h Axes. Ask Nerv, she is a level 60 (Last time i saw) WAR and she was talking about using 2 Axes.

Keft keeps posting false info here -_- as a ninja you cant dual weild axes why? Because they dont have the skill to, with ninja subed a BST or war or drk etc can dual weild axes its funny hearing him go YOU CANT DO THAT PLAY THE GAME THE NCOME BACK when he himself is spreading false information.

So if you sub DRK with BST your dmg is stronger and you can also dual weild 1h axes? Can you do the same thing with WAR? And do you still do alot of dmg subbing WAR with BST as you do subing DRK?

DRK does not have the ability to dual wield. You could not dual wield as a BST/DRK. I rarely see jobs sub dark, odds are it's not really worth it, unless in the very odd case that you are level 65+ and want to use guillotine.

Ok I am leaning so far to subbing NIN I'm about to fall off the edge. Are NIN strong? And the dual axe weild ability sounds good to me.

The best thing about ninja sub would probably be blink, assuming you were expecting to be hit. Damage wise, I bet warrior sub would add more damage (double attack, the attack up ability, passive attack up at level 30, warcry at 35). I imagine that much of the ninjitsu would get resisted due to the level difference. There are some slight speed increases with dual wield but the difference with a sub I think would not be significant.

For solo, you need a red mage/whm sub.

Ok, I've talked to alot of BST in game and the majority of them say go with WHM because you can heal yourself, cure poison, and it gives you a bonus to CHR so I'll most likely go with BST/WHM thanks for all your input guys.

Can someone answer this question once and for all? Can a BST/NIN dual-wield axes? I've heard both sides, even in this thread, so which is it?

Yes they can dual wield 1h axes. Do you know how well the blink ninjitsu works when you sub ninja?

well you will only have blink1 until lvl 74 when you could use blink2 as a ninja sub (this could hurt). Also, blink1 has a recast time that is longish and takes longer to cast than blink2. The other problem is that you are trying to tank with blink most likely, and it will not be easy for BST to keep hate especially with the thf changes.
