Mary's Horn is going to be quite likely the most important instrument in your entire Bard career from level 16 all the way to 75 and beyond. Prioritize it - it's more important than ANY other piece of gear you can wear as a Bard (aside from the Gjallarhorn, but if Mary's Horn is out of your immediate reach, a Gjallarhorn is in the next galaxy).

And no, I'm not overemphasizing its importance.

He really isn't. I don't have a Mary's, but I have killed Mary a few times, obviously no drop. I have the kinda-next-best-thing, the high level Lullaby harp (+2), and I do say I absolutely love it (especially when farming for Mary, since I can train every sheep in the area and then sleep them all at once), but the increase in range is not really a good trade off for accuracy.
