Can someone fill me in as to how Sing works?

There's two ways I can see it working: either you choose what songs to sing and the effects of those songs last until you stop singing and decide to do something else (attack, use an item, etc.), or you use a song like a spell and it has a set duration as to how long it lasts and you can do other things before having to sing again. Which is it? Do you have to keep up the song without doing any other actions to keep it's effect, or do you just hit the command to sing and the effects last for x amount of minutes/seconds while you do other things?

The second one. It takes about eight seconds to sing a normal song, and it lasts a minute or so. All the enemy-based songs take only a second or so to sing.

does any current bard player know how much requiem damage does? also if you use a song to boost your parties attack power will it immediately take place or will it eventually take place...and finally(lol) are bards needed in renkies because they can use 1 hand swords and some high level daggers....

1) not much at all... :sweat:
2) It activates when you are done singing, will stop if you move around.
3) Bard can be optional 0 ban, but as lvl goes up, the chance of actually hitting get less and less, prolly can only use 1 WS in like 3-5 battles.

but isnt requiem like magic...the more times you use it...it will become stronger?
plus i plan on being a bard/white mage elvann so my stregnth will be better so i can do damage if i want to(hopefully:sweat: )
oh is requiem like regen damage also like all the other bard songs?

Does anyone know a good sub job for a bard? I don't think the mages would be so good since bards will only have limited amount of MP? Of course they do have a song that recharges MP... hmmm... what does everyone else think?

EDIT: Also as long as I'm posting, can bards use guns?

bard/whm is the best combo since bard is a support mage so it is best decision to help cure ur pt

to tell you the truth holmes....the omdel su job for a bard is white mage becasue,"everyone wants a healer" but i suggest try something different like black mage or even paladin...becasue paladins have little a bit of healing but you will also have some vit points and the defense magic.....what race are you going to be???

requiem does damage slowly to the monster kinda of like a poison but not really

elvvans bards still do bad damage since you are a bard, bards do more damage than a whm does but still the damage is minimum

every race can be good bard. But if you ask for my own favourite, I kinda like Galka and Taru

for normal levelling PT a taru with many MP can help us a lot and in a long time.

for tough battacls such as BCNM a Galka can take much more hit

other race in between are so so ^^ for me

ok let me get this straight..even though elvanns have higher mind white mage will not be a good sub job for bard?? i want to be a taru taru but i also want to level my warrior a little bit..also there vit is real bad and there str..i want to use daggers sometimes!! im so confused help me in this situation jei? what should i pick taru taru or elvann bard..give me reasons

If a bard is singing a song ... can he move around? Can he fight? If he has a sub job can he cast magic while he is singing? Or is it like Final Fantasy Tactics where they must stand still and can't do anything else?

If bards can't do anything else while they sing... than if Bard is a sub job will they also not be able to do anything else while they sing?

does your race determines how fast you run? more importantly say if im a taru taru(really considering) and i train my weapon alot so it is at a high level..will my level taru taru weapon even match an elvanns str or a hume?

I appreciate your reply but I'm still unclear if Bards can sing and attack AT THE SAME TIME. When you say they do a little of everything, do they have to stop singing to do other things? Or can they attack and use a sub job's magic while they are singing a song the entire time without stopping? Do they have to stand still while they sing?

In everquest, bards could fight and sing at the same time but in FF tactics, bards had to stand still while they sung and could not do anything else until they stopped the song... that's why I have no clue what it's like. If someone could let me know I'd really appreciate it. I'm making my choice whether to use a bard or not based on the answer. Thanks in advance.
