Got yas, well im getting my brd up there, currently at 30 and im not really having too much of an issue with things sticking just yet, so i can see the point where signa would just be a luxury item. Still not buying one...and putting my money else where... =)

Quick question regarding elemental staves, does the light staff effect the buff songs as well as the debuff...or just debuff. =)

I'm not exactly sure how they work, so any explination would help, thanks. =-)

staves wont affect your buff songs, only your debuff ones

Staves don't affect any buff songs (except perhaps a tiny bit from any CHR you might get from a Light Staff), but that's negligible. Otherwise only offensive songs are affected by staves (Threnody, Elegy, Lullaby, Requiem, Virelai).

Alright thanks for the info, now will i need to pick up anything besides light and earth, i understand the others would be good to have, but do I really need the ones to cover the threnody's?

most BRD I see use MP rings such as astral rings. Is it a good idea to use CHR ring as oppose to astral?

I swap out my mp for chr but only at certain times and for certain songs.

Personally, I opt for the CHR rings - if the party is relying that much on my mp - something is terribly wrong in my opinion. Im not there as the main healer, or for an immense amount of healing support. Just the clean up cures - a few status removals and then back to my songs.

My main part is to make sure I have the correct songs on, and doing what I can to help the party move faster. Curing is a small part of it - my songs take priority and by having ballad and a few juices I tend to do ok.

Beyond +20CHR or so, I found very little impact from adding CHR (this changes at end-game, where a bit of CHR can theoretically slow down enemies a bit with Elegy, but that's a whole different ball of wax than levelling against things that are 8 or fewer levels above you).

At low levels, +CHR gear while singing offensive songs can help your accuracy. Once you hit level 51 and get elemental staves, everything goes out the window - adding more CHR beyond +20ish doesn't do much for your success rate, and any extra potency is somewhat negligible in those circumstances.
