Signa...?

So, i'm at 25 currently and have enough gil to buy a Monster Signa. My biggest question i guess is, how far would this last me, and what would i replace it with eventualy. I know I can always resell it later but I wonder if my gil could be used better elsewhere. Pretty much is it worth the gil to grab it now and will it be worth it in the long run.

In fact, if I were you I would save that gil or put it towards something else. I highly doubt you'll be involved in activities which require you to equip so much CHR in order to succeed at that level. Signa is a purely luxury piece of gear and anyone who says otherwise is full of it.

Yes, light staff and earth staff will replace the signa. But in truth, unless you're a mithra you probably don't even need a signa. If you're elvaan, you definitely don't need a signa. Save your gil for stuff you'll really need. Did tests with and without Signa, didn't do diddly for me.

Get your Cornette +1, Corsette +1, Bird Whistle, Noble's Ribbon, Hope Ringsx2. Then save up for your next set of gears, the next CHR rings you'll be able to use at 36. And frankly, the money you're going to spend on a Signa is better spent on Mary's Horn. Mary's Horn will have a greater effect on Lullaby resist than packing on more CHR than you really need.

Yea, i'm an elvaan, so it seems it wouldn't do me that much good. I have all of that gear you mentioned except the corsette. So I guess I will look into that. Well, thank you all very much for the info, seems ill be spending my money elsewhere and keeping my +mp weapon atm. ^^

Why mention Elvaan specifically? Elvaan, Hume and Tarutaru all have the same A rating in Charisma.

The only real reason to get a Monster Signa is for BCNM 50 or lower, where stick rates on offensive songs (read: Lullaby) are make/break sometimes. Aside from that, I really see no point to getting one for general XP purposes.

I mention Elvaan specifically because I am an Elvaan BRD. As for the CHR rating of Hume and Taru, I didn't know first hand what they are, but I DID know firsthand that Mithra have lower CHR ratings. Instead of being an ass and commenting on something I didn't know firsthand, it's wiser to only speak about what I DO know. If only more people followed that simple rule.

So i was wondering why i didnt have the corsette, then when i looked it up realized it was a lvl 40 item and that was why =). So i grabbed a +1 and tossed it in my mog house. Thanks for all the info on the signa etc, everyone. Still trying to sort out my gear. ^^

If you plan on camping hoo mjuu the torrent i strongly sudgest you dont, because he is usualy over camped and when you do get the claim it probably wont drop, im 0/9, i probably could of just saved up the gil to buy it when i was camping him.

Yea I tried that for a few nights, but it was more of a feeler, like if he doesnt drop it I may as well buy one, but after the responses I have recieved, I wont be getting one at all and using my gil elsewhere. =))

Try getting a full moon darksday claim (might be rumor, but I've gotten 2/2 on those two conditions, as well as several other NM drops.. and those 2 being the only Signas I've gotten off Hoo Mjoo out of around 50+ times). It's pretty simple to figure out when Hoo Mjoo will pop.. here's a tip: Yag's take 3:20 ingame time to pop, there's only one PH who is the one that will pops between the "3 zones" there. Signa is definitely a luxury bling item - and many times if you are in a BCNM you tend to get hit and the -VIT can actually hurt you more than the +CHR can help you, especially in some of the lvl 40 BNCMs.

Currently my BCNM gear is an Elegant sheild and my paper knife and I have excellent luck on landing the songs needed. Your most important instrument at your level is the Mary's Horn which has alot more influence on landing lullaby in said BCNMs.

Also, if you are trully worried about CHR, foods will add that stat (such as Sandorian Tea, Tuna Sushi or Flint Caviar).

IMO, the place it appeared I would want a signa most, was @lvl 39 when I learned Elegy, but didn't have a Horn+1 until 40. Instead of a signa, I decided to go with a Minstrel's Dagger and pair it with an Elegant shield. This nets me +6 CHR, 3 evasion and 6MP without the -VIT of a signa. The dagger is questable if you have CoP access to Riverne A01, and the money I saved, I put towards a trump crown(they've gotten pretty cheap on Shiva^^). If I'm having resist issues, then I'll use some +chr food for a little extra boost, tuna sushi and caviar are quite nice for those times indeed. ^^
