Have any BRDs attempted the Snoll Tzar as a BRD?

Yeah, use SV, and Etude the BLM.

But what is everyone's opinion on the melee? Should they get Dbl Minuets? Dbl March? SV-Dbl-Minuets would give about 180 attack. Or SV-Dbl-March to up their swing speed. Please comment, or am I just on crack for even considering it?

Soul Voice + Double Minuet. The ATK is better than haste or accuracy (have the melees use sushi). Worked for my group. The fight is so short that you really don't need any other songs except maybe Etudes on mages (not to mention once you're done singing you can buy more time by using Shu'meyo Salt).

Definately double minuet. Snoll's evasion is laughable when compared to what you exp off of at 60. I used sushi on MNK and barely missed at all.

Yeah, for BRDs, Soul Voice + double Minuet before engaging seems standard for this mission. Fire Threnody, Foe Requiem V and Carnage Elegy (in that order) on Snoll once the melees engage (Soul Voice should still be up). Toss Cures as they're needed and use your Salt on Snoll when it's your turn.

Though, to be brutally honest, this is one of those rare occasions where a BRD isn't too useful (when compared to other jobs that can dish out huge damage in a short span of time, like SMN, BLM, SAM and RDM).

Yeah, I know I know... if I had much choice in the matter I would be using BLM or RDM. /cry

I think a BRD on a melee heavy party would be very helpful.

It would, if it weren't for the 45 second time limit on this BC.

IMHO, it's best to replace the BRD with something that can DD quickly. It's not to say that you can't beat this with a BRD in the PT, but as it stands, the more raw damage you can pour onto Snoll right off the bat, the better.

To clarify, I'm the BRD with no other job options for this fight besides BRD. Replacing me is not an option. The suggestion to put me in a melee heavy group sounds the most reasonable as I can add 180+attack to each member(yes I tested it).

It's not constructive to cop-out and say X job shouldn't try Y task cause you can beat it so much easier with RNGx5 or BLMx6.

EDIT: BTW, I'm also the crazy that used BRD for almost every fight in CoP including Diabolos and Mammets. And yes, I do plan to take a BRD into the weapons fight and the Tenzen fight. Nutty? Perhaps, but I find joy in solving the problem through creativity.

You are not alone. I have used BRD for every CoP battle. The only exception to this was when I originally did the promys as WHM. I have run others through the first 3 promys several times now, and I have switched to BRD for those as well.

My next battle happens to be the Snoll, so the information posted above will be of great value. Thanks everyone.

In my opinion, Bard works very well in balanced groups for all CoP battles.

                    Re: Snoll Tzar

I did Snoll Tzar on bard, and I did what most have said above:
                    Soul Voice
                    2 x Minuet on Melee
INT Etude on BLM and RDM
                    Fire Threnody on Snoll
                    Pray...

                    I went 1/1 on it. :D

                      Re: Snoll Tzar

Yeah, should update the info on this. My static consists of 8-11 people, depending on attendence. Our first task was to farm cluster cores, they farm easy in RivB. Second was to find the right mix of jobs.

We did a couple of test runs through the week. We probably could've done it with only one test run. When we did a test, we didn't use any salts, that way we have a realistic idea of how little time we had.

                      Our setup:
                      RNG/NIN (co-tank)
                      MNK/WAR (co-tank)
                      THF/NIN (sata onto MNK)
                      BLM/WHM
                      BLM/WHM
                      BRD/WHM

Tanking got split between the RNG and MNK. The RNG obviously pulls hate immediately which high dmg at start of the fight, which let the MNK and THF setup a sata to turn Snoll Tzar with MNK 2-houring also. The Snoll Tzar won't focus all of it's dmg onto one single tank, but I make it much easier to tank it with a Soul Voice Carnage Elegy.

Upon entering the BCNM, the BLMs buff the party with protect and shell, everyone eats, mages use reraise items, I ballad at start to regen mp, mages including me use stoneskin. Then the mages stood on one side and melee on the other.

When everyone says they are ready, I pop my Soul Voice while standing next to melee and immediately cast Minuet 2, then Learned Etude first BLM, Minuet 3, Run to mages, Cast Ballad 2, then Learned Etude 2nd BLM, then Hunter's Prelude the RNG.

After the Prelude, the entire group begins running near the edge of the water, the RNG pulls and unloads. I begin casting Elegy(which will pull hate at very beginning), and Fire Threnody. Everyone gathers at a close circle around Snoll Tzar to prevent it from moving out of melee attacks. That's when I begin using a salt. Immediately after I use the salt, I Divine Seal and Curaga.

The BLMs specialized in using a casting cycle of Firaga2, Firaga, Stun, Fire 2, and Fire.

Nevertheless, when we did the run, we completed it, set record, no deaths in the BCNM or after the BCNM due to Frost health degen.

                        Re: Snoll Tzar

I won Snoll as Bard. I did the rest of COP as WHM. Bard adds a lot of attack to the melees and can still help with backup curing. The Elegy also helps a lot.
