    Re: BRD melee

7 EP mobs on thf isnt hard with sleep bolts its just getting them off the player they are beating on before the player dies that is hard. Sleep bolts last for a long time, especially on ep monsters.

Also, RDM and BLU have to worry about getting their castings interupted. Once you have enough mobs on you it will be impossible to get off your sleeps if your Stoneskin or at least Aquaveil aren't already up. A BRD can sleep, and continue to sleep a very large group of mobs almost indefinitely.
I ran into an instance like this once. Was camping a NM in Beadeaux, and had a friend come join me. Well he was WAR55 instead of BLM75. Next thing I knew he was dead, and I linked 8 or more EP or DC Quadav trying to get to him. Took me about 25 minutes, but I managed to kill all of them with out my 2hr as RDM75.

One thing I've always envied about BRDs is that they can't be interrupted. Would make soloing for me so much easier if I didn't have to worry about timing with my spells, then again I've become so used to my good friend Fast Cast and getting my spells off in time, it's as big a worry any more.

No, but I do live about 3 blocks from the Stadium. Lived here 15 years, and went to the high school across the street from the stadium, but never went to UofM.

This sounds more like what I do in lvl 75 pts... I RARELY if ever get to fight in exp pts... I have 55~ acc that I can put on my bard that I carry on me at all times but I rarely use as bard...

Sorry for the diversion, but I'd just like to point out for the benefit of less experienced players reading this thread that this is a slight exaggeration at merit levels and a ludicrous exaggeration at anything below 70, even with maxed Sanction.

*Merit* parties do make ridiculous amounts of exp/hr, because they have Utsu:Ni on multiple people (which is insanely horribly broken, reducing most monsters to complete helplessness) and often have multiple members who are already heavily merited and/or decked out in ridiculously strong gear (e.abj, ridill, etc).

*Exp* parties, particularly low-mid level ones, 5k/hr is still pretty darn good and 3-4k/hr is not terrible. Not much has changed below 50, honestly, and even in the 50-70 range it hasn't changed that dramatically. So there's no need to feel delusions of inadequacy at your 5k/hr party.

Despite the fact that some people seem to think a Lv.35 party can Chain #7+, 10k/hr is usually for Lv.70+ parties. Thanks Karinya.

So many people have hit Lv.75 and spent so much time Meriting they forget how EXP parties truly grind in the 50's. Even if a BRD were to pull in the 50's, having a mob at the camp by the time the current mob is dead, the party may not have the MP needed to maintain the Chain.

                  Re: BRD melee

I'd say the bare minimum to break 7K per hour would start somewhere around level 54, and even that's only in very specialized groups with very good players (i.e. manaburn at 54+, DRG-burn party at 54+ against Lesser Colibri, or something equally unusual).

For most jobs, XP doesn't get better than 5-6K/hour until at least level 65.

                  ---

Getting back to the original topic though, Bard melee in XP parties is quite hopeless. Even if you can stack enough Accuracy to hit things, you're so busy singing songs (4 buff songs, Elegy, Finale, sometimes more) every two minutes that there's not a lot of time to pull out your weapon to take a whack at things - and when you do, your Attack and Strength are usually too low to make the damage worth the effort.
